Hi Steve. Thanks for coming and sharing your knowledge and skills with us. I am fascinated by what I am reading and learning about your puppet work! I teach school over here in Vienna and brought with me a few puppets with me. What would you say, in few words, is the best advice for writing and performing puppet skits? What are the basic elements of a good skit that help kids listen and be absorbed with the presentation? Any advice there?
Good luck to you! Tom Mason Vienna Austria |

Hi Tom... Great to her from you. I gave a lecture years ago which has turned into a white paper we sell called "JOKESTORMING". It outlines the creation of a routine from start to finish. It involves the process of gathering keywords and concepts around a subject of a routine or character and then crafting those into a routine outline. One word of advice is to not just string jokes together into a routine, like is often done, but rather create a "situation" that has drama or comedy. Put your character(s) into that situation and write their reactions to that situation...into a routine. In order to do that, you have to KNOW the characters. What is the past of that character? What is the family, hopes, dreams, quirks, etc. Once you know the character inside and out, you will know how that character will react to any situation. The jokes will flow from the character and the situations, instead of from one-liners and puns. Hope this helps....
I'd love to know more about how you work with kids and puppets in your schoo.

Hi Steve. Have you thought about making some of your titles available as pdf downloads. Save time, trees, and import duty!

Actually yes. I am considering that for Jokestorming and things I write myself.
All of the scripts in our AxTrax are available as downloads ... free in fact. http://www.axtell.com/axtrax.html
