Hello Mr. Biro,
I was wondering if, in your days of photographing motor racing, you ever met my childhood hero, Jim Clark? He was a shepherd who lived a little bit away from me in the Scottish Borders.

I met Jim, but never got close to him. He was very private and was really hard to get close to, especially at races, where he was totally locked into concentrating on the job at hand.
Others, like Jackie Stewart, Dan Gurney, Denis Hulme, Richard Petty, et al, were easy to get along with and I often did bits of magic for them.

Thank you Mr. Biro.
Jim Clark, to me, was the greatest driver ever. He raced everything, from saloon cars to Formula 1 and was successful at all. You have met some of the all time greats. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

It was sad for the racing world, not just the Scot's but all of us when he was killed in a minor race. At his funeral his father told Dan Gurney that he was the only driver that Jimmy feared.

I can't imagine that there were many drivers that he feared. That was praise indeed to Dan Gurney.
