For those of you who put together a magic kit and give it to the birthday child, sell them, etc... Where do your purchase the tricks? I am guessing there is a good wholesaler out there. Any recommendations from those who are currently doing this? Also how many tricks do you like to put in one kit?
Thanks!

JAEIII,
You will find many posts here about this. I personally like the "Kipp Brothers" "Magic Trick Assortment" (Item # NB6890). It has 12 Tricks in a bag and each trick is individually wrapped in the bag with instructions. The single unit price is $3.85 (which has gone up 50 cents in the past year). The website is: http://www.kipptoys.com//ProductBrowse/P......ID=17834 Thou just looking at it right now they are "Out of Stock". I usually buy a Gross (144) at a time as six of the tricks make a good "Goodie Bag" so I get 2 "Goodie Bag's" per set. For the B'Day Child they get the whole set. They also have "Magic Wands" at a beginning price of $6.90 per dozen (which is 57.5 cents each, these were 25 cents each a year ago). Still a good deal. http://www.kipptoys.com//ProductBrowse/P......ID=17233 To bad the "Personalized Magic Sets" (with your artwork on them) did not seem to work for Penguin Magic (supposedly the quality was NOT up to par for them, Penquin that is). That would have been very nice. The unit cost of them was supposed to be $2.99 with a minimum order of 100. They announced it and then it "Disappeared"...lol. Amazingly they are still on their website: http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=1942

Have been Out of Stock for a long time. It's the best deal I've ever seen for a magic set.

Thanks all.
Has anyone ever purchased this 100 piece set from Kipp toys? http://www.kipptoys.com//ProductBrowse/P......ID=19860 It says it's a 100 piece set but then under the 'warnings' it says "10 different magic tric." Does this contain 100 tricks or does it contain 100 pieces that make up only 10 tricks? Can someone that has purchased this clarify? Thanks.

The 12 trick set from Kipp bros has been out of stock for over a year and they say they have no info about when or if they will ever get them again. I have given up waiting and am casting around for other options myself also.

EZ Magic (Robbins) and Loftus International might be other possibilities.
http://www.ezmagicrobbins.com/ https://www.loftus.com/ Because they are wholesalers, you might have to qualify to order from them. What I mean by that, is they might require a minimum order, or ask you to provide some documention that you are a legitimate business. And they also require registration in order to see the wholesale prices. - Donald

Donald,
I deal with D.Robins and there items require a $200.00 min. purchase plus you must have a Business I.D.# the problem is they only have two options for there sets Option 1: Rope Magic set This comes with a 24 foot piece of rope and a ring with a Book that teaches you 42 rope magic tricks I guess option 1 would be ok for the older kids, however for the little kids I would not want to give them a piece of rope. Option 2: This huge magic kit has the equipment and instructions for over 150 cool tricks! Magically make a die penetrate through a solid board! Astound your friends as their ring passes through a very small hole! Once you place your arm in the magic box, you will be able to twist your arm 360 degrees many times! Also included with this set is a 60 minute DVD. Watch Houdini and other great magicians perform...then learn to be a master magician yourself! Ages 5 and up. OUT OF STOCK! I copied and pasted the description right from there site as you can see on the last line OUT OF STOCK

No, I haven't ordered from either of them (but I have seen their wholesale prices).
I know another Canadian who has ordered from Robbins, though. I suspect I will place an order with one of them at some point. For now, I'm getting some tricks for my magic kits from a dollar store (the manager brings in certain tricks for me from a Canadian party supplier, by special arrangement). Randy, give me a call if you need clarification. You can also make up magic kits of your own, by purchasing several different small tricks from these wholesalers and assembling your own customized kit. Both of the companies carry individual tricks that would be fine in a magic kit. You don't have to buy and re-sell stock kits. - Donald

I ordered this one from Rhode Island Novelty:
http://www.rinovelty.com/index.cfm?fusea......AGTR&Go= (or try http://tinyurl.com/yd8t7u3) Yah, cheap plastic stuff. No instructions. But a cheap price. I actually bought them because I needed some other stuff and had to round out the $50 minimum order. A couple I won't give to younger kids (the pencil penetrator, the finger chopper). Ed |

Well, I sent an email to Penguin Magic and got this reply:
Thanks for your email. I'm sorry to say that product page is just a tease. We were working with a company in India to put together a custom kits program. Unfortunately the quality of the kits we received didn't meet our standards so we temporarily stopped the program. We see the need for affordable custom kits for our working pro customers, and we hope to have a solution to this fairly soon (probably within 3-5 months. Maxwell Murphy Penguin Magic

David (Magicone) -
The small magic kits that you linked to, look quite promising. Last fall, I purchased about 100 small fantasma magic kits for around 75 cents each at Michael's The Craft Store. The local stores were clearing them out. Each kit had 3 to 4 tricks in it, and there were 3 different kits ("Amazing Magic, "Cool Magic", and "Money Magic"). The kits that are at the dollar tree link look very similar (except they aren't fantasma), and they are only $1 each. I'm sure they could have a higher percieved value. A person could even combine the three smaller kits into one larger kit. Good find! - Donald

Donald --
Would you repackage that in your own branded packaging? If so, would you also retype the instructions? I'm sure they have the manufacturer's web site on them. Or would you just give them as is? Is it worth the effort to do all that work of repackaging just to put your name on it? Ed |

It depends on what you are doing with them, Ed.
For the fantasma magic kits, I was reselling them at shows in the fall, for a profit. And I also included some of the fantasma kits within my larger magic kit. Sometimes I would take them out of the boxes, so they would fit in my magic kit box along with my other items. Same for the dollar store tricks that I've used. They were a part of the larger kit. They have their own instructions and packaging, but I didn't re-brand them at the time. I had some other products that I sell that are already branded to me. I sell them individually and also as a part of my larger magic kit. So, there are some parts of my magic kit that are already branded to me. If I knew that I had a steady supply of the same item, I might go through the effort of re-branding it. - Donald

Hi Donald... the dollar tree kits are fantasma. I bought a load from our local dollar tree and give them as prizes at shows... the packaging inside has the fantasma logo. Never thought of repackaging them though. Will have to look into that.

I got these kits from Dollar Tree, rewrote the instructions and rebranded it to give to birthday kids. I am in the process of putting together BOR for my summer programs and am considering using these again. I just have to figure out if I want to go through sales tax process and have it still be worth while. I don't do many shows outside the summer libraries that I have an opportunity to sell BOR

Urgh! Sales taxes!! That puts a whole new spin on things! I've gotta check into a good accountant for how to deal with that whole mess.

Hi Tom -
That's interesting that they don't say Fantasma on the outside packaging. The ones I had were clearly branded as Fantasma inside and out. - Donald
