I love Yogi Berra’s quotes here are a few that seem to fit well for magic:

"If you don't know where you're going, you'll wind up somewhere else."

"We make too many wrong mistakes."

"You can observe a lot by watching."

"If you can’t imitate him, don’t copy him."

"Ninety percent of the game is half mental."

The Impossible I do immediately;
Miracles take a little longer.

but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.

That's true, but who said the one I stated in near the beginning of the thread?

How about "You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, and that's pretty good odds!"

No, Mark Twain is considerably taller, and assumed room temperature long ago.

Two classic Harry Blackstone, Jr. quotes.....

"Look...it's empty...as empty as a politician's promise!" (Oh how appropriate today!)

After vanishing something in a sheet of newspaper...."You see? There's nothing in it......but then there never is anything in the (Name of the Local paper)...."

I always liked Blackstone, Jr's line when he vanished the bird cage. "Who said, 'Up your sleeve?' Well, up yours, too!"

Another Blackstone line which I thought was great was the bit he did with "The Committee." He would have a couple of guys pulling on the rope to test it. He would say, "Pull, don't jerk....I said, 'Pull, don't jerk.'" Then he would turn to one of the guys and ask, "Do you know the difference between a pull and a jerk?"

"No."

"He's the pull."

On the same routine, Blackstone, Jr. had a piece of rope that the ends were whipped to keep them from coming undone. One end was trimmed very close to the whipping. The other was frayed out a bit.

He would ask the fellows, "What do you see on your end of the rope?"

"Absolutely nothing"

"A bit of fuzz."

"Ladies and Gentlemen, a piece of rope with a bit of fuzz on one end, and absolutely nothing on the other."

This worked best with a bald headed guy and a bearded guy, for obvious reasons.

If you were ever on stage with him for the committee, you know why the volunteers did not get mad.

Moses -- "Hear me, Children of Israel. I will wave my staff over these waters. They will part, and we will all cross over to the other side. Pharaoh's armies will follow us, but when they are all in the middle of the dry sea bed, I will wave my staff again. The waters will rush back where it once was and will slay all of Pharaoh's army."

Manny the publicist -- "Moe, if you pull this one off, I'll get you five books in the Old Testament!"
