A one and five dollar bill change places in the persons hands.
I have seen different ways to make the trick. The best way I have seen is the way Mike Ammar makes it. Has anyone seen this? Paul |

I use this all the time. I keep it in my Mullica Wallet for just the right moment. Never fails to get a good response.

Its a trick created by my good friend George Hample in Phila. Its called "Beswitched". I perform it at every close up/strolling show...my bread and butter.

I just purchased Be Switched and haven't performed it yet. It is tucked away in my everyday wallet and I can't wait to show it off. It's a beaut!

Mike Powers has a great handling in his POWER PLAYS book using a $5 to $10.
I use to do this effect with a $5 to $1, but it worked better with the old $5 bills (small Lincoln Face). With the new $5 Bills (BIG Lincoln face) the actual Number "5" puts a damper on how the gimmick looks on a $1 bill... It looks too conspicuous. Mike uses the New $5 Bill and it works perfectly with the New $10 bill. I keep the 2-Bill Set in my wallet but I rather borrow a $5 and use my $10 as most people are not so giving of a $10 these days anyway.

I use the 5 to 1 bill transpo quite often in my close-up repertoire. It is one of my favorites and it always gets a big response.

I have tried several bill switches over the past years, and my recommendation?
David Parr's "New Slow Motion Swindle" with introduction by Eugene Burger. I've tried many, and this is the most refined, elegant one I have come across. Pure simplicity.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

For a few years, I used a version from Apocalypse when working tables. It's been quite a while, so I don't remember which issue.

The 2 best version's I've ever seen are John T. Sheet's 'Atomic Bills' and 'Cool Cash'. It does'n't get any cleaner and visual than these 2!

You'd get a better reaction using Inflated Transposition ($1 to $5 to $10 transpo by Joshua Jay)

I agree with defconskylude. Joshua Jay's Inflated Transposition is basically impromptu and uses no gaffs. Also packs a punch with the surprise ending!

I have a slight variation on Joshua's routine (with permission) on the recent NY coin seminar video called Transporter Malfunction. Josh's routine is very very clever in method. Worth taking a look at.

I have made up the modified gimmick for the 5 to $1 transpo as described in Switch, and it provides a cute patter.
However, I've seen a version that only folds the bills into fourths (instead of 8'ths). This version seems to look better, and less suspicious, but.. I've seen two variations. For Dreamland.com's version, when the $1 is removed from your fist, you see the letters "ON" (from the "ONE"). In Ammar's version, when the $1 is removed from your fist, the "1" digits are seen. Seeing the "1"s is more visual than "ON", but it does create an inconsistency. Has anyone been "called" on this? and does the "1"s help the spectator grasp/notice that it is the $1 that is being removed from your fist? Thanks; John

What about Bob Solari's Metamorphosis? What I mean is do any of you use it and what do you think? I was going to get a copy but don't know a lot about it.

I do Roger Clause's Slo Motion Bill Transpo.
Great trick. So clean. Well worth the effort. You can cleaning show both sides of the bill before and after the magic. |
