Cesaral - Open Perceptions
$990 at Hocus-Pocus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkFUKJtA_WE Official ad - Primary Effect: You, the magician or psychic, give a deck of cards and a dozen envelopes to an audience member. You instruct the volunteer to pick a card, memorize it and then insert the card into an envelope. Finally you invite this person to give the remaining cards and envelopes to another audience member. This Audience member is instructed to do the same as the first. You can continue to have them pass on the cards and envelopes to different people until all the envelopes are gone or there are no more volunteers. The last audience member gives the remaining cards and possibly the remaining envelopes to a trustworthy audience member for safe keeping. After the above setup has been done the magician says, "You may be puzzled; wondering why I’ve asked you to secretly select and hide cards in the envelopes you are now holding. Well tonight I would like to conduct both a little survey and an experiment. First the survey, I want your feedback, your opinion of what you think of me, this experiment and my show. To make things a little easier for you, I have prepared this rubber stamp with a few survey comments. Just stamp the questionnaire onto your envelope and check one or more of the options given.” The stamp could have these options or whatever ones the magician wants: There is no way the magician can divine my card! If he can, he must be a clairvoyant! If he can, he’s too dangerous to be allowed to roam free. You are an amazing Magician! Contact me at ___________. After they’ve answered the survey, you as the magician or psychic, are able to name one by one each of the cards the audience members chose and hid in their envelopes. You can vary the presentation so that you have them stamp your business card right onto their envelopes. When the effect is over they can keep the envelope with your contact information and have a great keepsake of your show! Bonus Effect - Impossible Travel: A freely chosen card, kept by an audience member hidden inside an envelope, travels to an empty envelope that has been present in the middle of the stage the whole time! Methods to do this effect ALONE sell for thousands. Important points: The best c******d cards on the market are included. The 52 cards fit in a regular poker card box!!! The magician NEVER touches the cards. He can be up to 54 yards (50 meters, or 164 feet) away from them the whole time. There are many options for the rubber stamp, and you can custom order any design for it. You can also have several rubber stamps depending on which presentation you want to present in any given show. The method is original, clean, and all props look completely innocent. No forces are necessary. Great for both stage and close-up. Cutting edge e********** make this very easy to do, allowing you to concentrate on a presentation that will leave your audience knowing that you CONTROLLED their actions, READ their minds or SAW the future! ******************************** Seems like a potentially powerful effect. It's not cheap, but doesn't appear expensive either for an effect of this type. What do you guys think of the "survey" idea? It sounds entertaining, but also a little incongruous (ie, "why are we stamping a survey on the envelope after we put the card in?") You could sort of justify stamping the envelope to show that it stayed sealed, but if the magician never handles the envelopes, why would that be needed? Maybe you could have the stamp made up to say "Prediction ______" or something, then the magish writes the prediction on the blank line for each, then hands the pile to another spectator who reads the predictions and tears open the envelopes one at a time? But then the magish is back to touching the envelopes... The idea of including your contact information on the stamp is interesting, but they'd only retain it if you gave the torn envelope out as a "souvenir." Does a torn envelope make a good souvenir?

Hello,
I think it is cheap taking into account the effects you can do with it, and comparing it with other products that use similar technologies. You could stamp a survey, or stamp your business card, or stamp instructions that the magician gives to the card keepers. For example, you could have in the stamp something like: "Please concentrate on your card when I ask you to", or "Please repeat with your mind the card's name to yourself 7 times, when I ask you too", or "look to the center of the envelope and count down to 7, when I ask you to"...I think that there are many ideas to justify the use of this element. Use your imagination The prediction idea is a good one. At the end, not the magician but same audience members could tear open the envelopes and check each prediction and each card. So, the magician really never touches anything. You could print also in the envelopes somethink like this: Suit: 1)Diamonds 2)Spades 3)Hearts 4)Clubs Card code: 1)King 2)Queen 3)Jack 4)10 5)9 6)8 7)7 8)6 9)5 10)4 11)3 10)2 11)Ace The magician would tell to the audience members that put the cards in the envelopes, the code of the card so that the audience member put a mark on it. For example, if the audience member selects the 9-Hearts, the magician would tell him to mark the suit (3) and card code (5). Thus, until the rest of the audience would not know that the match was perfect... You could even tell the audience member that take the card to place it inside the envelope without even looking at it. The stamp is fully made of wood and rubber...like an ordinary stamp. Ah, yes - of course! Have the spec put it in the envelope without looking at it. That would keep the suspense going for them even after you have them write the prediction on the envelope. Great idea.

Cesaral, do you offer compatible replacement "chip" cards if, heaven forbid, part (or all) of the original supply is ruined by spilled drinks of other unforeseeable mishaps?

Hi all,
I am posting the following review for a friend of mine. Due to email address issues and Café policy, he was unable to join the Café to make the post himself. Thanks, Glenn I just purchased Cesaral Magic’s “Open Perceptions”. It is absolutely amazing! For selfish reasons I was hesitant to spread the word, but Cesar asked if I would post my honest opinion of his new effect after I received it. The magician immediately knows the identity of any card(s) selected. It works like a dream. A selected card is put in an envelope and sealed. The envelope is then stamped with instructions, information, etc. The moment the stamp comes in contact with the envelope, the identity of that card is known to the magician. It will work with any number of cards. (all 52 if you would wanted that many) The rubber stamp can be customized to the magician’s specifications. I set mine up with a list of statements the spectator’s will read about the possible identity of their card. This is a very powerful tool for a mentalist. It can be used to play for any size audience. I give this my highest recommendation. I have heard the term “reputation maker” said about effects before. This one truly is! Mark Doetsch

I have Cesar's "system" in two versions. One is the stamp version dealt with here in previous posts. It works very well indeed as stated by many posters. The other one I made from an antique teak card box and Cesar's d…..or. While I turn my back the spec chooses a card and puts it into the antique wooden card box and closes the lid. I turn around and ask the spec to put the pack from which he removed the card on my shoulder. I can feel which card was removed from the deck.
The cards provided by Cesar are much better than the ones previously supplied by other manufacturers. You need not fear anyone could suspect they are not normal cards. I had them cut to a stripper deck so I can first do any stripper deck trick with them. Cesar is one of the few manufacturers who will do specials for you. I got my cards in Ellusionist vintage 1800 design which fits perfectly with the antique card box. By the way, both versions can be used with the fabulous Cesar's Cassette Player, which stands head and shoulders above all cassette prediction units available. In addition to like others predicting correctly weeks in advance the day's headlines, the Dow Jones or anything the like you can also correctly predict which card the spec will choose, how he will position a one inch die before putting the cassette into the player and for instance the specs shoe number multiplied with his height in feet and the day he was born. To help calculate that weird number you hand him a Cesar Mental Calculator. Kaarlo von Freymann Helsinki Finland

I received a regular bicycle RED deck of Cesar's chipped cards. All 52 cards fit into a regular bicycle deck box. These are the thinist chipped cards I have ever seen. All the chips are placed in the middle of each card so you can tell there is a little buldge in the middle of the deck but this will definitely be of little concern to fooling laymen.
One of the chips in one of the cards in the deck turned out to be faulty ... in that, it doesn't send the information back to the receiver correctly. Cesar has excellent customer service and is sending a replacement card out immediately. I have made many RFID decks in the past myself but have never gotten them all to fit into a regular bicycle box ... cesar's is the first to do this and that is why I purchased his deck. He did a very nice job! I would highly recommend Cesar's cards for a rfid project. Steven Skindell, Plymouth, Michigan |

You might want to have a look at Hocus Pocus http://www.hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/
Having already bought quite a few Cesaral props I purchased a prototype of this player 2 years ago and it has been a great success. Audiences are stunned by the prediction of what will be in the newspaper, (like with other cassette or CD prediction players) but the bombshell is when the prediction concerns 100 % free choice events that happened less than a minute before the cassette is inserted into the player, something a CD prediction cannot do unless the choice is forced. With complicated props - and a gimmicked player is complicated - the the most important thing is who is the manufacturer. The basic player is a Sony, definitely a very pleasing compact high quality currant model and the alterations to it are by FISM award winning Cesaral Magic, who have been in business since the early 90 ies.On any forum on the net you will find but praise for Cesaral Magic's dedication to keep buyers of their products happy. They will answer your mail within a day. Most highly recommended and worth its admittedly high price. Kaarlo von Freymann Helsinki Finland

Can someone tell me what are the major differences between the iphone and the stamp one, I'm thinking about getting one of them. I like the idea of having several people picking a card and figuring it out. Can the iphone one accomplish this also?
Okay, I give up what was your card?

I took the plunge a few months ago, and have to say it was well worth it. I've been using this in my shows and the simplicity and aww. I use it without touching the cards ever again once they have been passed out, I've had a few mentalist in the audience on occasion and they have even said " no idea how that was done". If you're a pro and understand the value of an investment then this is for you, as only a few will have it. It's different, unique and will be associated with only you.

I went ahead and purchased this as well, to use as a mindreading trick with my rabbit in hat puppet. Instead of the wooden stamp, Cesar made me a special gimmick to use inside the puppet, so all the rabbit has to do is "sniff" the envelope containing the freely selected card, then he reaches inside the hat and pulls out a locked metal box with a matched card folded up inside. Most of the puppet routine consists of impressions and comedy, but it's nice to have one real corker like this to bring the magic. Seems to work well with audiences of any age. Pricey? No, considering what it is and the quality of the craftsmanship. This was my first exposure to Cesar's customer service; he really cares about creating exactly what you need, then following up to make sure it's working for you. He even had some great ideas when it came to customizing the signals. Can't ask for more than that.

Cesar has been able to improve on what you can see on the link of his first post here above, both as to size and range. The new version is most highly recommended for those who are still without this great prop and also for those who have the older version but due to the way they present the effect would be glad to have a little more range. The improvement is not dramatic, and in case you let the spec put the chosen card into "your granfathers antique wooden card box" like I do, the old version is quite sufficient, (as fact it has never let me down) but in other presentations it will certaily give you more freedom. Cesar once more shows he will always be at the cutting edge of technology. If something can be improved upon, he will. As stated by so many on the Café, Cesar is one of the rare suppliers who answers your mails within hours. And if you are in a hurry and he says, "I will ship to-morrow", you KNOW he will.
