I have this and its fabulous.
Its clean, its easy and its amazing. Yes an item is thrown out to a spectator and this part of the pdf is worth the price alone in my humble. Dean |

I'm truly sorry that actorscotty didn't 'get' the routine and it wasn't suited to your style. This stuff happens.
------------------------------------------------------- well that's a stretch, I do "get it", I just don't care for the totally false advertising, I wasn't going to say that here but must respond to your post. if the ad had truthfully said that you offered a method to create the illusion of a random volunteer, then we could all make an informed decision as to whether or not we could use the routine. I for one am very tired of ads which try using word tricks to sell product.... I am happy this works so well for you,and others. again my main contention is the false wording in the ad,nothing more nothing less,,,,, - K [/quote] |

I hate to jump on the defensive here, but I have to say I've seen you perform this a whole bunch of times, in a whole load of different gig circumstances and I always loved it... I was surprised when you agreed to release it!
So, I can vouch for the fact that this really is still in your act and it totally bowls over audiences. It's a real gasp moment. In truth, even as a pretty knowledgeable magician and pretty clued up on mentalism too, the bit that I really couldn't "suss" was how you had the description of a random spectator. And audiences never have a clue either. The word "effect" used in magic descriptions technically means how the audience perceive what has occurred on-stage, and this description fits perfectly. Just try the routine and you'll see. Tbh... this routine is worth the cash even if it's just for that one part of the method alone! Enjoy.... |

How can it be that some endorse this as a great and clean method while others say that nobody will be fooled by the effect? The question is, will they believe that the description in the envelope fits a RANDOMLY selected person (no matter how she was selected, it just should look clean)?

So, is Bruce Berstein credited anywhere? Sounds like a variation of one of his effects...
In fact, BB's effect is one I use quite a lot and do various variations on how to choose the spec... never have used a frisbee mind you... but is that the innovation? Or is this a completely new method? (I don't want to know it - just want to know if it totally different from the core BB effect)... Thanks!

The main effect is:
You have three envelopes each one a different colour. The participant chooses an envelope and keeps hold of the envelope. You are left with two envelopes which you open and show that they both contain a statement saying do not choose me with a large red cross though it. The participant opens their envelope and it states please do choose this envelope especially if you are a lady wearing etc. The choice of spectator will look clean. There is a lot more to the effect than what is written in the description and I personally feel it's a winner and I will be adding it to my next stage performance and if you would like me to let you know the response I get I will be glad to. In fact now I think about it I may play with it and add it to my next banquet performance as I feel it would work well here too. This effect will go down very well indeed as there is nothing to go wrong and all it uses are three envelopes some bits of paper and a Brazilian writing beetle. Hope this helps Dean |

Yes the effect as appear to audience is what darkdean tells
the frisbee thing is a swindle to create the illusion in your audience : it work but as a buyer of this I tell you that is not what you think |

Not talking about this effect, but in general...
Don't you love some "chutzpah" leaving you on the edge? I find that when I'm still unsure of an outcome during some bit I do, a little dose of adrenaline discharged into my blood helps me feeling genuine....
Then you'll rise right before my eyes, on wings that fill the sky, like a phoenix rising!

I finally got this, read it and immediately liked it. Bold, bold, bold, but I am sure people will receive it exactly as described in the ad - although it is not exactly what happens during the effect.
I will definitely use this idea in combination with a different effect I am currently performing. Stefan |

When I first read the description of this effect, I was excited. Then I came back to reality. As with many other descriptions, they are based on what the audience is suppose to recollect happening, not what actually happens. If that is what actually happened, it would not be for sale. I do not own the effect, so I cannot attest to whether the trickery is transparent, well disguised etc. but the majority in this thread like it so that is good enough for me. I think, to be angry or feel duped by the description is pointless because at the end of the day, nobody should think the method matches the description. It is just too good to be that true.

But it is always what the audience sees and recollect and not what we want to be true....but that's what counts ,the audience get this exaclty ... everything else is just a dream that it can be done for real.... like ACAAN
Everyone look for the perfect version of Acaan but it will be the Grail that never exist.... But no matter what version of Acaan we use, they will get this as they should I |

Actually, the best way to know is to wait for buyers to post their reviews of actually taking the time to master what they read and try it out in real life performances. IMHO.

IMHO, the best way to really know is to actually see it performed either at a show or at a brick and mortar shop. You may not be fooled but you can certainly see if you like how it plays and if it will fit with what you are doing. You can even see if it matches the sales description accurately because, you were the spectator! |

Can this effect be performed close up or even with just one person?

I only bought this a few months ago, but since so doing it has been featured in every single
show I have done. Its simple in operation, packs flat, is highly impressive and well I can't reccomend it enough. Performed exactly the way Ken advises in his ebook this effect plays Exactly as stated in the advert in the minds and perceptions of the audience and that's all that matters to me. Its great thinking and as has been said, the ploy of "selecting" 2 people at random is worth its weight in gold alone to any serious worker who is not stuck in the "magicians mindset" I've recently after reading the thoughts of Alvo Stockman in his Poetry Reading book, managed to devise a way to not have to do any particular pre-show preperation of predictions at the venue and also to be able to 100% genuinely have two random people selected. It requires a little more initial set-up (one off preparation of the materials that would then last for many many shows) but gives the same kind of ending whereby you have predicted a) The Sex of the volunteer b) The Colour of their hair and several other personal attributes about them. All being possible without needing to know anything in advance of the actual showtime and with the same OMG end results and perception to the audience... Basically think about MO's being used but in the context of having truly had a spectator randomly selected for you.. They could either be male or female... umm and various other things are 50/50, plus there are only so many hair colours that are common and you can always fall back on the original version mentioned in Kens ebook if the prepared MO's you have mean your case does not contain a correct set to use for the volunteer that ends up in front of you. I'm sure this will all make sense with a little thought to those who have invested into this excellent ebook and also have taken a look at Alvo Stockmans "Poetry Reading" manual. Hope some of you find this idea useful. |

Anyone have an opinion on the stage blocking for this? I have tried keeping the person in the audience but some of the crowd will not be able to see the description of the person when it is read. If they are on stage with me the method has a chance of being exposed if I'm not careful and causes some unnatural angles on my part. Thoughts?

Hi DMac4,
I Have the person make the selections from their seat in the audience, I reveal the other 2 then have the volunteer come to the stage, get a round of applause and then they open up their envelope and read the prediction from the stage themselves. One thing to remember is I am ridiculous about keeping my distance from the volunteer when she comes on stage, this emphasises the fact you do not do anything funny with her envelope. Hope that helps sacramentohypnosis - thanks for the kind words and congratulations on getting such reactions. - Ken
