Hello Café,
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience in replacing the elastic on the Lipan Card Sword, and if they wouldn't mind sending me a PM to help guide me through the process. The sword I bought does come with extra elastic, but the instructions are in Spanish. Thanks! Alan |

Here is an idea, get Google toolbar for your bowser, and install on your device.
Scan the instructions, convert to a html file and open in your browser. Activate the translate program using Google translator. Read the instructions in English. Just an idea, if you do not know anyone that can translate for you. I also suggest you contact a teacher in a school that teaches Spanish, they usually are very helpful. |

Okay, then you can take my suggestion number 2. Many banks and companies have Spanish speaking people, if you visit you bank, and notice a clerk speaking Spanish, ask them if they would help you. Many cities also have cultural centers, that is another avenue to pursue.
Being is on DVD, makes it more difficult but not impossible, they can record right on a computer in Sound Recorder program on all Windows OS. All you need is a microphone, then transfer the file to a USB thumb drive. Being it is Spanish, best to find and ask a teacher. There are different meaning to Spanish from Mexico, and Spanish from Spain. |

How would you know the guy in the video speaks Spanish if he doesn't say anything? Back to the point - send me a PM, and tell me what is confusing you about replacing the elastic. I used to use a card sword, and have changed the elastic several times. It isn't the same model as this, but it has to be more-or-less the same principles, because all card swords are basically the same (other than the Nemo card sword by Ken Brooke, which used a reel). |

I never said anything about Spanish, the other guy said that.
I just need to know the size and type of elastic to look for? |

Years ago when this sword was being sold by Stevens Magic, many purchasers claimed they could not find the elastic. Stevens got a supply of the elastic from Lipan and started to include extra elastic, in separate lengths.
It sounded like the elastic was different from the normal heavy elastic. I don't know the difference, so only Mark Stevens could help. I have an Italian card sword, and could not find the correct elastic for this sword, as American elastic was to strong for the sword. I attempted to use Abbott's elastic for their card sword and it started to bend the hilt. Thanks to the late great Ted Leslie was kind enough to send his special elastic he had made by a company in Germany. He was so kind and gracious. |
