Many professionals said that when they buy a commercial effect don't read the instructions instead they play with the props and come up with solutions, in some cases not the original ones. The magicians that practice this are very smart and creative performers and thinkers. Do you read the instructions? Do you buy commercial effects or solely work on original stuff? Thanks, Hansel!

I do both. First I read, and then I play to see if I come up with something more. Don't see why one approach have to exclude the other.
I seldom buy commercial effects though. It's a better investment to buy books instead. |
