I searched the Café but only found a few mentions of this, no topics really devoted to it... has anyone seen this live?
http://www.edfmagic.com/video-box.htm It's called "Biting Yourself on the Forehead." Just wondering if it looks as good in person.

I've never seen a demo where the demoguy looked more bored in my whole life.. on the other hand.. I've also never seen anyone do it.. and it's a cool effect.
My one question.. is how can you really justify it.. it's a big box.. and a lot of crap for a levitation |

If you look close, Criss Angel did a version of this on his Mind Freak series. I think they were outside the Luxor and it was a cardboard box they assembled for the illusion.
It's an interesting effect .. something different. Steve |

If I am not mistaken, No Feet was created by Andre Kole, who also does this in his show where he lifts the box see his feet but rotates a full 360.
It's cool and wonder if you can pick up the box to show your feet first like Doug did.

Actually, Jim didn't intend for the box to be shown bottomless (as Criss does). The implication is that it has a bottom and is rising up, carrying the performer with it. The trick is a fooler.
Makeupguy, that's John Uhern of EDF in the demo. He's a builder, not a performer.
It's all in the reflexes.

I just want to know how they keep their shop so clean? At 2500 Sq Feet there's just enough room for equipment.

I saw the Nathan Burton thing recently. I think he's only fooling himself.

On 2010-06-27 12:07, makeupguy wrote: This could be done silent to Carnival/Fair background sounds/music.. I can see this as a Walter Mitty type scene. A video of a tethered hot air balloon ride scene on a screen on the background with Carnival/Fair set piecces, and the illusionist walking on watching the balloon rise and land, daydreaming what it must be like to go up in a balloon. Looking around the illusionist starts putting together a pretend balloon using odds and ends scattered on stage. The crate as the gondola, some helium balloons tied on to the crate as the balloon's envelope. And the ropes are the anchores for the tethered balloon. The illusionist gets into to the "gondola"; again looking back at the screen and sighs, watching the scene playing on the screen.... The pretend balloon slowly rises (unknown to the illusioist), hovers a bit and returns to the ground. The illusioist sadly exits the crate, and releases the balloons. He/she then sadly wanders off stage as a clean up crew comes in sweeping and picking up "junk" and trash, clearing the stage as the lights fade to black and the curtain closes. I have had this idea for a while now, and have been looking for something like this. I had looked at Steve Fearson's milk crate levitation, but it just did not have the feel I wanted. I'd play this as a hobo character, A la Kelly's clown. I am a hot air balloon pilot, and this has been perking around my brain for a few years now. JM2CW Cheers Frank |

Ray I would love to see your routine with it. But you are too far away. And that is the same for you - to see my routine of it. ;-) |

No. Angles are like the Blaney Levi
Just to add, Eric and John took the original Jim Steinmeyer design and redesigned it so you could have the box off the base, BIG improvement! You REALLY have to see it to appreciate it! You almost want to show everyone how it's done! IT'S THAT GOOD! Much props to Eric and John!
