Adding a visible color change flash drive (the version with a split black/red side) would be an interesting addition. And, of course, the perfect title for the routine is "Losing my Memory ..."

I worked family restaurants for a few years and as many people have mentioned, I too was always apprehensive about taking my pocket knives out with kids at the table. It didn't matter my story or lines or premise - it just felt strange taking out a couple of knives, with the kids at the table.
But as a guy who strives to do mostly non-card material - I did enjoy the effect of the color-changing knives. So when I heard about Chad Long's new release, I ordered them right away. I've had Flash about a month so far and I am extremely pleased! They are a breeze to handle - much easier than any knife set I've tried. They are designed to be nearly angle-proof - so long as you have no audience members who are laying on the ground below you, of course. I also think the items themselves - flash drives - lend themselves much better to creating lines and dialogue and a premise, than the knives ever really did. Highly recommended, thanks Chad!

This looks like a great commercial routine. My only reservation is - there have been several threads recently about making your material as google proof as possible - and if an audience member googled any kind of description of the effect, it would take them straight to Chad's tutorial videos explaining exactly how it works! They don't even have to know the name of the effect. There are so few other effects with flash drives that any Internet search involving flash drives in connection with magic tricks and/or "changing colour" leads straight to Chads video explaining the method.
I can easily imagine people finding the secret of this on their iPhones immediately after a magician has left the table. Recent threads have shown that younger audience members are very likely to attempt to google the method when they are impressed by a magic trick. I'd certainly be much more likely to order one if the tutorial videos were on a password protected page that a google couldn't reach. |

Im starting to fall in love with this every time I practice with it. As many mentioned, this versatile prop allows for a lot of creative patter.
One problem I've been facing though. It did pass the wife test, but when the drives were placed in her hands, and as one was removed, she actually noticed that the drive remove was supposed to be red. Does anyone have similar encounters? While I tried it on most laymen, I have not gotten any outright question about the matter. Perhaps they're just very nice, or just not as observant. |

Thanks everyone!
Caliban- Thanks for taking the time to post your concerns. At first, after talking it over with friends, I didn't feel the need to hide them. I've since changed my mind, and will either be PW protecting them or removing them from the site and just sending links to purchasers. I'll do this in the next couple of days, so you don't have to worry about that anymore. LoyaLover- You bring up a good point and, although I've never had a problem with it, I can see where it might happen. I always stack the "red" drive on top of the black one, casually flash both sides of the stack, and place it, red-side up, on the spectators palm. I then close their fingers around them and turn their fist over with one, or both, of my hands. At this point, I add a tiny bit of time delay by saying a couple things like, "Some people think I cheat a little bit, so we'll try it in your hand. Here, I'll take one, and you keep one." That's just an example, but you get the idea. Now, I just reach into their fist with a finger and thumb and slide out the bottom drive, which will have the black side showing. There's just so much going on, they couldn't possibly know what's up. Also, I don't mention the colors as I put them in their hand. They can see which colors are where and there's no sense in reinforcing this by telling them. I hope this helps out a little. Thanks so much and take care! Best, Chad |

Awesome product and great service from Chad.
The caps are a bit tight but I imagine that they will loosen a bit with use and these will definitely see a lot of use! Thanks for sharing this Chad.

Hi Joseph,
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, the caps are a little tight, but I did this on purpose. The caps on the first batch I had made kept sliding up or flying off every time I did the Paddle Move, so I told them to make the inside dimensions just a tad smaller to prevent this. I mention in the instructions that the caps might be a little tight, and that you may have to use a slightly firm grip and "wiggle" the cap and body a little to remove it. This doesn't look unnatural in the slightest, and is quite easy to do. Just don't try to "twist" the cap off, as this can break it in two. Hope this clarifies the "tight cap" issue a little. Thanks so much again, and take care! Best, Chad |

I just got this and what a cool effect. The moves are so easy with the way this is made and the Long USB as the closer is great. Very well made and a great purchase.

I just recieved my set of flash today like everyone else has said what a great effect! I'm going to change the patter line just a bit with a nod to my favorite tv show the Big Bang Theory. I'm going to say at the end "that this is a Bazinga bite" George |

Chad,
My wife has been watching my magic for more than 30 years. I did this for her, and when the black drive expanded she was truly suprised and impressed. Great premise and great props. Thanks for sharing it with us! Sammy

Is it possible to purchase one extra drive in other color? I would like 1 R, 1 B, and 1 R/B as well as the long one.
I am getting so tired of slitting the throats of people who say that I am a violent psychopath.

@slyhand
I emailed Chad awhile ago and he said he was ordering extra un-gimmicked drives in other colors. No news on this happening, though. I emailed him again recently but he never responded. I love the trick and the concept. The routine I've designed for the props requires an un-gimmicked drive in both colors. I hope he is able to make this happen. |

Another nice addition would be miniature flash drives in different colors for a smash climax.

Ok. Chad told me he had additional black drives for $7 each but at this time no red drives. I am sure they will be forth coming.

Chad,
I have been a fan of the Color Changing Knives since the day I began performing magic. It has always been in my table hopping act and my routine is pretty solid. With that said...I can only say AWESOME! You have brought the classic routine into the new world and it looks like a winner! You took the time to make it what it should be and thought out so many aspects of the routine. From one manufacturer to another, I am saying Great job! I will put in my order soon! I wish you well with this effect. Chance Wolf Wolfs Magic
