I'm looking for a list of resources (books or dvds) where one can learn how to "throw playing cards". The only book I'm familiar with is Cards as Weapons by Ricky Jay which is rather expensive.
Thanks, Andrew |

If you bought "Cards As Weapons" when it first came out it was only $4.95. I could probably make a house payment if I sold my signed copy. Google can probably help.

I remember someone asking this in the past and Jeff McBride's name came up a lot! I can shoot cards from the deck but it's just a method I figured out on my own (not original I'm sure) and I don't get near the distance or speed that some of these guys do!
Good luck in your search! MMc |

Heres a resource on it.
http://www.knifethrowing.info/throwing_cards.html I KNOW that there was a DVD that was put out not too long ago by one of the top card throwers. I think he has the record for farthest card throw... I JUST CAN"T REMEMBER HIS NAME!!! Or the name of the DVD. I know I have it but I'll have to go through my stuff and find it.

If your interested in card throwing Jeff McBride also sells a special latex thumb tip that he is said to use in his performances when he shoots cards from the deck.

Brian Brushwood has an Episode of Scam School on dedicated to card throwing
http://revision3.com/scamschool/ninjacards also, I believe that Jeff McBride mentioned on his Zoom, Bounce, & fly DVD (excellent resource too) that he picked up some of throwing techniques from a Harry Lorayne book. I don't remember which. Thanks |

The Jeff McBride video from the World Magic Awards 2008 was amazing. Incredible distance. I wonder if I can adapt this to recipe (index) cards? they might not be as aerodynamic.

The best is almost certainly Ricky Jay's "Cards As Weapons", but second in line would be Rick Smith's card throwing DVD. I won't hide my disagreements of his method, but it's worth taking a look at. I would also suggest the Youtube series "Card Throwing: An Instructional Series" by the account "CardsAsWeapons". It outlines everything someone needs to know about card throwing, from basic history, to grips, to self defense.
