Hi 'Failed' - you really must change your name(!) - instead of using the supplied symbols, substitute these for random clock-face times (any hour, any 5 mins past that hour). Explain the usual premise (52 cards; 52 clock faces. Ask them to name a card then choose a clock face (say QC & 03:55). As per normal routine, these match your tabled prediction...

So we put random hours and minutes? Such as: 03:55; 13:10; 17:55, etc?

SAS, you can grab two decks with different force cards, so you could do two different routines with different approach.
The one that GS told about the facing up card is also very good, I think I'm gonna do it next time I use this.

Great ideas, thank you.
When Mark and I were first developing Thought Wave we had many ideas, our original were the symbols you see now but we also made up a few other versions. We made up a set which used casino names and a lucky card presentation (I still use this version), a set with name places (cities and towns in the UK) a set with countries, one with swear words (there's a time and place for everything!!) and even a set with different foods and their prices (we developed a special menu), so you can see how this effect is very versatile, and once you have the principle you can come up with just about anything. Also don't forget that if you're doing any corporate work you can print up a card for trade shows and product launches etc (I have a set made up for an electronics company I do corporate shows for). Keep the ideas coming! Gary Jones.

Anyway, what do you guys think about putting just a piece of paper instead of a playing card?
Would it play stronger?

Thanks Gary. Putting a playing card might (or might not) give a hint to them on the working. But then again, I'm looking at this from my point of view as the performer who knows the method.

After performing this for a few months I've come to prefer the Gary Jones original routine using my business card. Provides (in my opinion) a bit more clarity and (as mentioned above)a sweet way to give out my business card.

Heads up, guys. I did this for my private tutor student. I used a piece of paper, folded into two with different reveals on each side. Then I asked him to call his girlfriend on her cell, and she had to -mentally- choose a card, then changed it two or three times. Then I wrote her free choice of card.
At the end, he just went silent for a while, trying to process how that is impossible. It WAS fun looking at his reaction. It looks more impromptu and with the other person at the other end, it gives more punch to the ending.

You could show all the backs to have different symbols, write your prediction (symbol), then have the spectator name/touch any card, your prediction would be correct; but this isn't, IMO, as strong as the original routine where you and the spectator both think of a card and symbol. Please let me know if this answers your question? Kind regards, Gary Jones.
