For those who are wondering, Ted knows I have weird ideas that are often surprisingly practical. It's a result of hanging out in Vegas with people like Ted. ;-) BTW, one little tip on the Deck Switcher that Fantasio passed on to me (I don't think it's in the instructions): When setting up the included stickers, only pull off the large part, not the little strip at the top. When you place the stickers where they need to go, the part with the strip won't stick. When you open the DS, that part will pop up a little. This makes it look more like a real box, as the lids often stick up just a little. It's incredible how much this one little subtlety can create the image of a real box! |

When I do a deck switch I do an effect that only requires a few cards, and I put the rest of the deck in my pocket out of the way while I do the small effect. After that do a switch by Alex Elmsley; and if it's good enough for him
Peter Duffie has a method where you use the overhand shuffle as cover for a deck switch, I have no idea how this works and when you see it done you're still none the wiser. It's called "Hot and Cold Shuffle", there's a video clip of it on his website. |

When the switch has to be good, I use Tommy Wonder's technique, because it's the best, or my own "Can't Topit" switch, because it's mine. Usually, though, I'll just turn my back while the chosen card is shown or signed, and switch decks then, 'cuz I've got nothing else to do.

Amen to Tommy Wonder. Ron Bauer, Mel Brown, and others have deceptive deck switches that are not difficult at all. But, very effective.
