Does anyone here own the 'Sharpie' version of the Parapad pen? I have a question - PM me please.

Finally own a Parapad! For the past two year I have used a pad with Psypher and been extremely happy with it. However, I always felt that I was missing out on something by not having a Parapad (a bit like not owning a Promystic product) and so I bought one. Glad I did. It's not just the f**l but the other details that sets it apart. The thickness of the paper, the ease of use, the "non-spiral" spiral at the top that make it so easily to flip over, the cover(s), the ability to refill easily and the clean way of getting rid of the impression. Almost worth using something else for so long so I can really appreciate the difference. Looking forward to using it and trying out some of the ideas in Secret Impressions - especially Scott Creasey's take on Bob Cassidy's Name and Place using a pad instead of billets.
Mobius p.s as I said I have never had a problem with Psypher. My old pad had a certain roughness and immediacy to it (good ol' Pukka Pad with its crappy cover and elastic at the bottom that kept everything closed and sealed in) that I really like. It's filled with scribblings and I have to search for an empty page towards the back of the pad for the spectator to write on. Not sure I am quite ready to treat the Parapad that badly - was even a bit dismayed when someone suggested in this thread that you use a paperclip to hold the cover together. Surely that will dent and scratch it! |

Beat it up like your old one
Btw, I sometimes just use black elastic hair ties, on my pads.

I have used Psypher stuck into a notepad successfully for pre-show for some time. Always works and, unlike many others have said, always gives a very good and legible impression.
I felt I was missing out on a superior product, the ParaPad, and so made the purchase from Theory11 in order to get the Sharpie pen version. I don't know if I received an inferior pen to others, but the impression is very, very poor indeed - absolutely no way I would feel comfortable using this in a performance. Is this just an issue with the Sharpie version from Theory11? I have heard such good reviews from other buyers but mine is really no good at all. |

Tom, have you tried adjusting the marker? Sometimes the "piece" can shift to deep into nub.
I have never had anything come close to PL quality. Is there a film covering maybe on yours that needs peeling? Trying to brainstorm here, because I've wasted lots of $$ on inferior (ultimately useless) imp pads etc. But, seriously NEVER had any issues with ParaLabs stuff. Try an exchange for a new one, it's worth it. 252MyImpressions

Thank you 252life, I think there must be something wrong with the pen to give me such a different experience than everyone else has had with the parapad. I have contacted theory11 who are sending a new pen - let's see...

Hi Tom,
I am pretty sure it is the pen. I was making my own pen and had similar problems. Now I have my pen perfect and it is refillable which is great because now it always full. Cheers Stefan |

Refilable you say?? What is this black magic you speak of Argon??
Lol, seriously though..do you use a different type of marker? I was thinking of trying to adapt the gimmick, to the pen style Sharpies(with the "clicker"). Thought maybe it would help longevity, and not dry out as fast. Alas, it looks so crappy, I never bothered. Tom, no prob And to be super redundant...triple check theres no film on the foil, just in case. 252OldAndDriedOut

I found the pen I used for Psypher worked better on the Parapad than the pen that came with the Parapad.

Hi there,
what I use instead of the normal marker ist this: https://www.magiccenterharri.com/catalog......id=11796 and it refills with this: https://www.real.de/product/35652411/?kw......odZukBog Sorry for the german links, but I think you get the idea. It is very cheap, looks ordinary and is very common over here. Plus teh magnet is safe against corrosion. Cheers Stefan |

I like the idea of the bigger marker, it sure helps avoid teeny tiny writing.

So I gave my pen a tweak - seems the m***** was a little too far inside the tip so pulled it out a bit. The impression is better than before but I really can't understand how people say the impression in clearer than Psypher.
I'd be curious to know if anyone can post a picture of an impression from their ParaPad. Mine is far more blurred than the Psypher impression and really a substandard impression in comparison. |

Thank you very much Thomas -this is certainly very different to my impression. I have sent you a private message to discuss further.
Thanks again |

Here's a picture of the impression I get on my Parapad for reference. The lines are not quite as thin and defined as the ones shown on Thomas's picture but it's not bad. Have also included the impression I get on a pad I made with Psypher. I used the pens that came with each pad. Would like to get thinner lines if possible on the Parapad as I sometimes struggle if the spectator has small writing. Change pens, perhaps? Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Mobius - I love that you've made the Psypher the actual back of the pad. More deceptive and easier to reset
