Received mine today.
Small and smart, as nice as described. It is not examinable but as there is a second completly normal pad in the pack, I'm going to use it as a duplicate. The simple fact to get it give me more confidence in case I need or decide to give it for examination. In the end the only weak part is the way to reset the pad. I don't find very practical the way it has to be done. In conclusion, a very nice product, with a lightning speed shipping from paralabs members. Thank you guys ! |

BTw, why do you want to give you pad to examine ?
I never gave my pad to examination and nobody for 10 years asked for it or told me : You have a duplication pad, havent you ?!

If somebody asks to examine the pad you have already lost the game. The only thing I would worry about is that the spectator might accidentally find the gimmick without even examining the pad. However, with some decent audience management this is NEVER going to happen. That being said, a little more secured gimmick would make me feel even more confident though

If somebody asks to examine the pad you have already lost the game, I agree with you but not in the way you mean
For me it mean I fail as performer because if the spectator asks for examination, it means I look fake to him, a magician... Until now it never occur to me. I used the paralabab pad during my last 5 close-up show and I was and I'm not worry about the spectator management or some of them find accidentally the gimmick... Forget you know what's a double lift is and it will be better

Sorry guys, but NO WAY is anyone going to find the ParaPad gimmick (unless Eshla gets ahold of one...ZING! ).
Think about it...IT'S A PAD OF PAPER. Why would ANYONE want, need or even THINK to "examine" it? It is what it is. I've gone through a full refill pack and this hasn't once been a problem. The participant's hands are full the entire time, they are busy with their drawing, tearing off the paper, handing back the pen (etc). One doesn't really have the time to examine anything IMHO. The pad is used, in and out of play in natural fashion and nobody is the wiser. The gimmick itself is above suspicion (especially given the technology used). Just my thoughts. Thanks again to Thomas and Rainer for offering us yet another REMARKABLE product. I've been loving it almost every day now and it has definitely become my close up pad of choice. -JF P.S. Just kidding Eshla, you know we love ya!

Is this good for writing or just pictures
Can you read writing clearly with this even if it is not big
You might say reality is the result of complex negotiations between the observer and the observed. But that is simply a point of view.
Many Thanks Garrad |

Possible to peek writing Garrad, but it will take more time (at least for me it does) so I prefer asking for a drawing, much simpler to identify at first sight.
It's not a question of gimmick, but more a question of how you construct your routine and get the time to peek. |

Using the basic technology we build in the pad, there IS definitively a degree of scattering/dispersion of the impression. That said the quality of our gimmick is better than others that use the same basic technology. But if a participant writes really tiny little letters you may have a problem (with the impression as well as with your eyes) anyway. So you have to achieve a writing of an appropriate size. There are several ways to do so. Over all: We use our pad for writings as well, ... ... and we ensure that we can read it before the participant writes. That's it. Cheers Th. |

Received mine today...and as others have stated, it's really nice. The thought and craftsmanship put into it is top notch. I love the thinking regarding the color of the covers -- just one example of paying attention to subtle details.
Between this and my Riggs boards, my tool box is complete! Thanks. |

If the NomadPad is a Fiat Panda, then the only think that could be a Porsche would rather be MindBuster. But hey... it's your opinion of course. From what I've read, the main differences seem to be that you get a slightly better impression with the ParaPad (who really cares to have a slightly better impression compared to an already cristal clear impression, but anyway...) and the surface is slightly wider (which with a little management is also not that crucial), but there is a little locking mechanism on the NomadPad (agree with you on the examination part of the Pad by the way, that you already lost if you're asked...) which enables an easier peek and also you can reset the NomadPad in front of the spectators and easier (but also here are those two features really that important). So all in all I really have difficulties to imagine why the ParaPad should be a Porsche when the NomadPad is a Fiat Panda. Sorry to chime in in this nice thread but I just don't like wild and biaised advertising which seems a little to be the case here. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the ParaPad isn't a nice product, it's probably one of the best devices in the non electronic category (and maybe I'll consider purchasing one some day to have a backup product and to make my own precise idea and also satisfy my curiosity, who knows), but making these kind of little jokes sounds like crossing the line to me. Respectfully, Ben |

No, the difference it's not only about the impression.
All is different, handling,peek... The peek can't be easier, so the problem is you don't know what you're talking about, sorry Btw, we're in democraty, if I want to say I don't like football and I prefer pom pom girls, I can

I just wanted to add that this biaised advertising feeling I got was absolutely not given by the Paralabs team, Thomas really seems to be a gentlemen.
Parmenion, no I don't know the ParaPad, and I admitted it right from the beginning; what I know is that the NomadPad is a good product and I'm pretty convinced that the comparison you make is very exagerated, and that was the point of my post (I don't know how you can even try to stand your grounds regarding the comparison you made but anyway). And yes we're in a democracy so yes if you want to say stupid things or wrong statements you can (although I must admit that pom pom girls are nice... ). |
