Oh my. Have to admit it, though, Wiregrams was one of my first tricks as an adult, and its still a good one. I use a f***e deck, have the first spec pick a card, then lose it back in the pack, then spread the pack face-down. Then I'll hand the wire to a second spec, explain that it's a divining rod that he should use to point to any card from the spread. Push that card forward on the table and leave it face-down, gather and square the others. Then I'll say the rod is in fact very special, and has other powers as well. Wrap the rod in "tissue" paper, do the d*** s***** while they're watching the burn (using a deck missing the chosen card, of course), and voila. The wiregram matches the first chosen card, then the one on the table is turned over and it matches as well. Deck is then spread face-up and all appears as it should.
Now appearing nightly in my basement.

I'm quite a fan of the effect in terms of what it looks like. However, I have never gone out and performed this as in my mind, you should leave that piece of wire with the spectator as a give away. As soon as you pick it up and pocket it, you have taken a throw away item and not "thrown it away". I know know...audience management, but there is going to be people who want that piece of wire. If I could buy 200 of them at a time for a few £ each, it'd be the best give away ever.
Perhaps I am wrong and should just get out there and do it. |

No you are absolutely right Paul.
At least, I agree! I also think that to be a fully realised effect, they should be shaped as paperclips to start with, so that you have magic, take a paperclip, straighten it out, put a flame to it and it reveals the card the chose or w/e. It seems to me like you show a special piece of metal that bends accordingly when heated. That is science, not magic. Good day gentlemen! JH

I agree with Jon:
I have made these for myself shaped as paperclips (the form they return to). I use them to hold some notes in my shows - accidentally stretch them out in front of the spectator - then restore to paper clip shape and put them back on my notes and walk away... |

That said, knowing some of Nathan kranzos work, I'd be suprised if he doesn't have a clever and justifiable use....assuming he uses it.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your interest in evogram. The wiregram was one of the first magic tricks I've ever seen. It left a very visual memory in my mind when I was a kid, and still is one of my strongest pieces of magic. When preparing my shows, I always think as a spectator and not as magician. The same if you work on TV like I do. Most magicians overlook the wiregram, but this is one of the 5 BEST effects you can do to IMPRESS someone in a VERY positive way and leave them a memory they will NEVER forget. People want to see VISUAL things. Things to make them go "wow". Long story short: 2 years ago we decide to take a step further and improve this concept. We all know the most wiregrams don't last much and break easily, and if you like to perform wiregram as much as I do, that costs a lot of money. We wanted to find a solution to make it last longer, thus, save the performer time, hassle, and money. Evogram is engineered to last 5 times more, comes with full colour instructions explaining you EVERYTHING you DON'T KNOW about it, and it's available in brand new shapes. We also made a commitement to provide a higher quality product at low price. PS: We have tried to make evograms shaped as paperclips for 1 year. That will never work. If you *force* the wire into a paperclip shape, that turns into a card shape, two things will happen: 1) the wire will not hold the shape perfectly, and not look good at all 2) the wire will stop working. If you bend the wire more than 4% the technology inside will get damaged. We tried every possible way, and unfortunately it's not possible. The only possible thing, is "a regular piece of wire that transforms into a paperclip". But performing that, doesn't makes much sense. evogram is out, and as soon as you get it in your hands, you'll see the differences. Don't overlook it, you'll be glad you didn't. Any questions, just drop us a line: eurekamagic@gmail.com , we will do our best to help you. thanks.

I wonder if people have actually done that or do any of you have a better excuse to take the wiregram back from the spectator? |

Ok folks. I thought I'd chime in here. Please bear with me as I'm writing this on my iPhone.
I immediately became excited when I heard this came in the 5 ESP symbols. A routine popped into my head immediately on how these wiregram can be used to make a killer routine. Unfortunately you'll need to buy all 5 ESP symbols for this to work. BUT I do think it will be worth it and wondered your thoughts as I'm debating getting all 5 myself. So here's the routine IF you own MD by promystic (I feel this will take MD to a very different level): Do your regular MD routine by having a spec choose any ESP symbol they want on the MD cube and place in the box, under a cup, in their hands, etc. Ask the spec to burn that image into their mind, etc, etc. Ask them if there was anyway anyone could possibly know what they have choosen or what they are thinking of. Go over everything they did so on lookers understand the process that just took place. Give the spec an opprtuntiy to change their mind etc., etc. Once they are happy with their selection and have mentally "burned" the symbol into their mind so they can actually see the symbol when they close their eyes tell them you are going to prove to them how they can use their mind to transfer the energy of their own thoughts to an object. At this point, using an index that simply holds the wires in a 1-5 order reach into your jacket or pants pocket and pull out the correct wire and bring out the lighter. Tell them, inorder to transfer the image to this wire you (the magic guy) will need to generate enough energy and heat by applying this lighter flame to the wire. Tell them the flame will act as the wires inner energy and will connect with your minds inner energy that has burned an image of the symbol onto your brain. If this works the image will somehow appear on the wire. Have them truly focus their thoughts into the flame as they visualize the burned the image of their symbol. Ask them to visualize the wire twisting and shaping into their symbol. Then let the magic happen. Have them reveal the symbol on the cube to verify it's a perfect match. The best part is this is then instantly repeatable with a diferrent symbol choosen. I know what you are thinking and that's, what if they choose the infinity symbol. Well that's a slight problem but with some creativity we can work around that. One might say that this is an experiment using the brains energy to do something specatular. You can show all the symbols on the die and stae to them that all of these symbols represent a permant object expect the Infinity symbol. Ask them to think of any symbol but not the infinity symbol. Due to the nature of what it represents the mind will confuse the symbol as being never ending rather than a permanent object that has an end so ithe experiment will likely not work if you choose that one. Have a duplicate wire on hand if someone were to choose that one that will not bend. This will be your out. If they happen to choose this one take out the you gimmicked wire. Go through the routine and say you must have choosen the infinity symbol. Your mind is having difficultly seeing it as an object. Would you like to try another symbol. Well, that's what I came up with in a couple of seconds. What do you think? Mike |

Sorry folks. My last paragraph in my post immediately above had some major typos and I wasn't allowed to edit it. It should read like this:
I know what you are thinking and that's, what if they choose the infinity symbol. Well that's a slight problem but with some creativity we can work around that. One might say that this is an experiment using the brains energy to do something specatular. You can show all the symbols on the die and state that all of these symbols represent a permanent object except the Infinity symbol. Ask them to think of any symbol but not the infinity symbol. I explain this is only due to the nature of what this symbol represents. The mind will confuse the symbol as a never ending object rather than a permanent object so it is quite possible the experiment will not work if you choose that one. Have a duplicate ungimmicked wire on hand just incase someone were to choose that one. This will be your out. If they happen to choose it take out the ungimmicked wire. Go through the routine and say you must have choosen the infinity symbol. I know this because your mind is having difficultly seeing it as a permanent object. Have them reveal their symbol to show them you were correct. Ask them if they would like to try another symbol. Well, that's what I came up with in a couple of seconds. What do you think? Mike |

Mike has written an amazing routine that combines several great props in to what could be as much as a ten minute show, or more, with a lot of audience participation, all the ingredients for a great display of mentalism, magic and PK in one. Q from Cosmo would be a perfect addition to make it work.

Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

I also like the Paperclip idea ! I also like the contrast this has against darker backgrounds, clothing etc. It stands out, if wrapped in flash paper will this shorten the like of the materials ?
