Anyone know more about this?
DUE IN STOCK IN APPROXIMATELY 10 - 14 DAYS (MID OCTOBER) Leo Smetsers of the Netherlands has designed a whole new approach to the classic three shell game and Alakazam Magic has the U.K. Exclusive! This classic game is guaranteed entertainment! Where is the ball? There? Here? Only you seem to know for certain... You show three polished steel caps and place a tiny ball beneath one. You slowly move the caps and ask the spectator to find the ball. The moves are clear and open and yet the spectator simply can not find the ball. The game is repeated again and again but each time the ball evades the spectator's watchful eye. Finally, the spectator covers the ball with the cap. Then further covers the cap with a small steel cup. There simply can be no mistaking which cap has the ball. But still the ball makes its way to a different location! You explain the secret is in the little steel cup and with that you reveal a small potato (or other load) from under the cup! Just when they think it can't become anymore impossible...the three steel caps are now shown to be completely SOLID BLOCKS! Your audience will go through the roof. This is guaranteed top entertainment! All may be examined before and after the presentation! This is not just an original routine, but completely new material never previously used for this purpose. What do you get? The list is extensive: * 3 open stainless steel caps (3.5 cm in diameter, 1.5 cm high, 42 grams) * 3 solid stainless steel caps (96 grams) * 1 small stainless steel cup (4.5 cm diameter, 5 cm high, 118 grams) * 3 velvet storage pouches * A beautiful storage case * 2 custom made balls You also receive a detailed instructional DVD that reveals a wealth of information on the three shell game. Each technique and handling is covered in great detail and of course you're free to add your favorite shell game techniques as well. The DVD also includes live performances with three completely different routines! The caps and cup are made of stainless steel with highly polished finish; they are truly lovely and have been made by a master craftsman in Europe. Truly a unique and wonderful set of props! This reputation making effect could easily become THE feature effect in you show! Please Note: The included DVD works on many standard DVD players BUT not all. It will work in all COMPUTER DVD drives. Price: £ 299.99 http://www.alakazam.co.uk/product-Solid-......ame.html |

Does anyone know if the caps are gimmicked (like a chop cup)??

I think they are not gimmicked. You will get 3 normal cups and 3 solid cups. Seems to have a change from the normal cups into the solid cups during the routine.

(that does look like one of Auke's cups in the kit). BUT, this offering has nothing to do with the Three Shell Game. Solid "shells", surprise final loads, an actual Cups and Balls cup.........this takes a complex and pure con and turns it into another simple magic trick. Like taking the Three Card Monte and blending it with Hover-Card, or Zig-Zag-Card..........why bother diluting something that's already brilliant? |

I have asked Chris Harding at Alakazam those questions:
Q: How long is the DVD? A: 30 minutes. Q: How many moves are covered/explained? A: 5 moves. Q: Is this set for bloody beginners also or only for experienced shell workers? A: It is possible for beginners to leans, but it takes exercize off course. Q: Is this a really 3 Shell Game? It looks more like Cups and Balls! A: The appearance is a little unique but I think, stylish! Q: Will there be another demo video availiable someday? A: No further demo videos are available at this stage. Q: Can the moves also be done with normal shells? A: I am unsure as to whether the moves can be dine with regular shells until the units actually arrive here. Q: And if so will be the video also availiable without those shells? A: No the video will not be available without the shells. Hope this brings a little bit more light into the dark... |

Because I'm lucky to live in the Netherlands, I ordered and now own the Leo Smetsers' Solid Three Shell Game.
What I can say about it is: - the props are ungimmicked, except of course the solid 3 caps. - it is basically a three shell game, although the method of stealing the pea differs slightly - the pea is not the SFS Perfect Pea, but a sponge like one - because the caps are stainless steel with a rubber band on top, they are absolutely not slippery - the cup is nice, stainless stell too, don't really think it's Auke van Dokkum who made this, on the DVD they talk about a cratftsman in Europe. They do not mention the name of this craftsman - becasue of the luxury look of the props it is obviously meant for more official occasions, although you can of course perform it on the street - it is indeed expensive, but performing with it is a real delight. |

Mr. One post do you know the creator?

The creator is Leo Smetsers. I suppose... Of course is it a variation of a variation. But I have not seen the shell game in this form before.
I forgot to mention there is a little bit of cups and balls element in it, in one of the three routines on the DVD there is at the end a production of a potatoe from the cup. |
