I do Silly Billy's milk pitcher routine and have a heck of a time trying to clean OOM out of my milk pitcher and Tenyo milk tumblers. Especially in the tumblers where you can't really scrub/clean the insides. Does anyone know of a cleaner or solvent that cleans up OOM really well? Thanks.

Try Dawn. Oom is essentially a petroleum based product

I've tried everything I can think of, including lemon juice which I thought was basically supposed to disolve petroleum based products, but nothing I've tried works well.

If the tumbler/pitcher is plastic, there may not be much that you can do. Oom will degrade plastics.

Paul, thanks for posting this. I posted the same question in the Science of Magic forum just yesterday, not knowing where else to post! I've always been told that real milk is better than OOM. Alan just confirmed that for me. You can make your own OOM, by the way, by checking out Howie Didits in the Secrets forum.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

I've used powdered coffee creamer in my multum-in-parvo. Looks like milk, is drinkable, and cleans up well. I mix it up on site usually.

Guys, I messed up a really expensive sealed milk pitcher by trying to clean the OOM out. One source mentioned bleach and it did nothing. What I suggest you try is to us detergent and very hot water, keep rinseing the glass or pitcher. It may take some time, but is more safe if you want to try to save your glass or pitcher. Over the years I only found 1 OOM product that actually did not separate, it was sold by distributor in California, but it is no longer available. It was called "MILK TEX". It can even be stored, a little shake an it is good to go. I prepared it with bottled distilled warm water. |

What I don't understand is why Silly Billy recommends OOM on his video, and the tenyo milk tumbler. If it is going to leave a residue behind in the tumblers, I would think he would have had this same issue. It would seem like as long as he has been doing the routine that he would have realized it was an issue and addressed the issue and offered up his solution on his dvd. I just don't get why I am having this issue and he doesn't seem to be, because I truly believe he would have mentioned it if it were an issue for him.

Paul, then I suggest you ask Silly Billy. It may be a consideration of some factors over how he sees the use of a product. It may not matter to him if residue is left behind on a prop.
Here is another suggestion, try 'dish washer solution'. This stuff is really tough and powerful. Do not put it in the dish washer, but use it in the prop. |

Wmhegbli,
You could be right, I know he did mention that he picks up the milk pitchers he likes whenever he can find one. Maybe he does the same thing with the milk tumblers. Stockpiling them so to speak so when the OOM builds up, he can throw them out. I may give the dish washer solution a try. I am also thinking the powdered coffee creamer sounds like a great idea. May have to give that a try as well. Quote:

Multum In Parvo, either you start with a small glass, pour it into a larger glass, it completely fills it, then repeat with a series of 5 (usually) glasses, each a little larger, until, at last, the biggest glass is apparently filled from the tiniest one. Can also be done in reverse, ending with a big glass diminishing to fill a little shot glass. Usually done with milk for visibility.

Hey Paul, I have an extra one or two around here if you're interested. It always gets a big reaction with the kids when I do it, I do the big to small with a vanishing the small glass of liquid as the ending of the trick.

I used to use OOM, but now I use powdered milk. It cleans up better. I bought a milk jug that has a secure, screw-on lid that does not leak. I mix the powder with bottled water in the jug the night before the shows. Mixing is made easy by shaking the large mouth milk jug and using water that is room temperature. I then refrigerate the milk mixture overnight. A gentle shake prior to the show will remix any powder thet settles. The only drawbacks I have is that it foams when shaken, so allow time for that to settle, and of course it can spoil.

Hi Paul,
don't know if it helps in this particular case, but whenever I have to clean vases, bowls, jars, ... that are difficult to get into with a brush, I try to use hot (not boiling!) water and denture cleaner. Yeah, I know, it sounds funny, but these tablets are extremely cheap - at least here in Germany - so you might want to give it a try. My two cents ... |

Isn't oom oil of epicac? I used to buy it in the pharmacy for a fraction of what I payed when it was labeled oom.
