Thanks, all, for your "tips" and advice. All this counseling from those who've "been there" will definitely be taken into close consideration. Cheers!

I am a beginner , and received the instruction from the magician in the brick and mortar on how to hold the TT pointing towards the spectator and all that. The first time I vanished a silk. the guy said you had something on your thumb. I asked him why do you say that. He said your right thumb looked kind of blue. I was handling the TT the way I was instructed. Maybe the blue in the silk was showing through the standard hard vernet. Or maybe I still have a way to go in learning how to handle it

Just purchased a metal (copper) TT. Nice and large very cool shape almost twice the capacity of my regular TT's.

Vernet.
The coloration issue can be solved by painting the inside of the tip white.

Thanks Ekuyh, just take a small brush, or spray a little paint in?

Brush.
Spray will spatter the outside and will pool on the inside, coat unevenly and take forever to dry. Use model paint for plastic models; acrylics will flake off and possibly leak onto your silks from moisture on your thumb... sounds odd, but I've had it happen.

Standard Vernet is very loose on my thumb. I've tried using hot water to make it tighter but it didn't seem to make much difference. I hear the Junior Vernet is too small for decent loads. Is it okay that the standard is loose?

I only buy TT's at a brick and mortar, so I can try them on for size. I pick up a TT almost every time I go to a Magic Shop.

A good tip to help camo a vernet tip a little better is to sand the outside of it. It will help opacify the plastic and also make it less smooth and shiny - which are always dead give-aways that scream fake thumb!

Just changed my aging Vernet King Size TT today...for another Vernet. The new one's even more deceptive - better skin tone, better texture & just slightly wider making for a better fit. I've a couple of other brands including so called "lifelike"...still can't beat the (much cheaper) Vernet!

It's got to be vernet. Surprised it hasn't become a genericized trademark like biro, hoover etc.

Call me sick if you want but some day, I'll add a clause to my final will that stipulates that upon my death my thumb will be degloved and plastinated so that someone else may have at least some use for it

Depends what you are trying to do. Hard Vernet if retrieving an object from the TT, (a lit cigarette) soft if trying to retain liquid in it (better seal) Why not have several

I am planning to buy Bonsall's stretched TT, but I'm new to TT. Do you know any other TT that does the kind of things that Bonsall's TT allows you to do ? See below :

Certainly a matter of personal preference, but I bought a sampling of all the available thumb tips and comparing all of them on my own thumb I found the Vernet Classic to be the best for me.
