I purchased Legacy and received just a couple of days ago. I left it on a table in my living room to review it later that evening. When I got home from my restaurant gig, my wife greeted me at the door saying "You're not going to be happy". My dog Abbey usually runs out to greet me when I come home, but not this time....My wife noticed ripped up paper and cards on the floor as well as a brown wallet with chew marks. You guessed it! I thought piasa23 would get a kick out of this story since he has a "man's best friend" as well.....I can't give a review at this time!
(I was upset of course but she was not punished, hey that's what dogs do) (I purchased another one from Vanishing Inc today)

The update document will be ready to go once we have (fingers crossed) obtained the necessary permission to include a bonus routine (I describe a presentation using Legacy for someone else's (outstanding) routine). If the permission is not obtained then we will make it available without this content (which will consist of an updated handling).
Either way this shouldn't be much longer... Sorry to hear about the chewed Legacy - that's harsh! But can we use a quote from you "Even my dog loves Legacy!"?! Cheers, Jamie.

***….I swore I would hold off on purchasing more tricks for a good long time! Haven’t bought anything since last December, but I gave in on this one and ordered it yesterday from Penguin as I always get a discount, and of course the free shipping.
Seems like a great little way to tell people how I became interested in magic. I would tell them that the man in the picture is my uncle and that he is the one who first got my interest, which is true. Like many, I also had a magic set when I was a child but I was terribly disappointed in it as I actually believed in magic and thought that all the little items in the box would be self working little magical wonders! As for my uncle, he would do these amazing little magic tricks with a cigarette. Well, at least they seemed amazing when I was about six years old. The age and look of the picture would fit in nicely as it was around 1952-53 when he did these little magic tricks for me, and he was also quite a card player. Looking forward to receiving it and perhaps I’ll post my opinions on it. Hmm...I had a question about it, but for the life of me I can’t remember what it was. Oh well, in a few days I’ll have my hands on it.

I ordered it this week via Vanishing Inc, but it seems they're having trouble with the demand exceeding supply... it hasn't been dispatched yet, even though the other items in my order have. Patience is sometimes hard to muster.

Hi Denis,
I'll look into why that is and will email you the details. It's almost certainly that the shipping team forgot to mark Legacy as sent in your package as we have them in stock, ready to ship same-day. Best --Andi

Am I missing something here? What is the "Alternative" you are referring to?

Lol, do you have the effect? Well when and if you do get it, you get an Extra little something to switch in and out depending on how you want to present the effect... One gives it a really magical "WHAT THE....." Moment, where as the other one gives you a Complete mentalism moment...

I do have the effect. I just forgot about the alternative as I haven't used that option. Silly me for asking the question and forgetting.

You know, I'm *still* not sure which of these I prefer, even after all this time.
Out of interest, do you guys tend to get one result more than any of the others? For me the 2H hits a good 70-80% of the time. Jamie.

I don't get the 2H more than the others. I do stress that I am not trying to influence their choice in any way and I give examples like TWO guys in a CLUB, etc. I do this with each of the choices and they tend to pick any of the cards. None of them is picked more than the others in my case. They choose all over the place.

Ah ok. The way I'm currently wording it is (with the cards from face to back JD, 4S, 2H, KS, 9C):
"Now before you make any conscious choice consider this: I may have said something to influence you - perhaps when I spoke about the guys in the club - perhaps this was an attempt at something subliminal? Or maybe it's all about how I've arranged these cards - the Jack right at the front to make it the obvious choice - or perhaps the nine at the back tucked away, as a kind of double bluff. Who knows? Not your conscious mind but believe me, your mind is already made up before you even know it yourself. So look over the cards one more time and once you feel drawn to one of the cards, pull it forward out of the spread to separate it from the others..." It's very strange but as I say, I get a massive hit rate on the 2H with this. The problem then becomes, after the reveal, the spectator tends to rationalise it: "Ah yes, it was in the middle and that was the obvious choice..." and you then run the risk of the routine being written off as a psychological chance... so before you reveal the card, try laying a little more groundwork first: "So you've chosen on the two of hearts. But are you sure? I don't want you to look back later and think that this is some cheap psychological scam; if you feel I somehow influenced you by placing it in the middle, closest to you then please - feel free to change your mind. But if you choose to stay with the two, when you find you can't sleep properly tonight because this is playing on your mind, think back at what happened next and recall how you really did get every chance to make an absolutely free choice..." Most of the time they stay with the two but they'll not rationalise like they would without that additional groundwork. And of course, if they do change their mind, you can have even more fun with them at the conclusion, referring back to how, if they'd stuck with their first instinct they would have won the game... "But no one EVER does!"... Lots of fun and experimentation to be had with this - and the great thing is, you can't ever go wrong! Cheers, Jamie.

I go through a very similar script but for some reason don't get the 2H more than the other cards. People must think differently in Canada!! I actually enjoy it more when they don't choose the 2H. The other choices seem to be more impressive and more direct.

After the effect they are dying to know how I did it. I tell them I have no idea it was the only trick my uncle Charlie never thought me the secret but they try to rationalize, and always tell me they didn't pick the 2H because it WAS in the center. so I began to mix the cards during the effect and found that they would pick the two... If I don't move I almostalways hit the four.. If not then the 9 very rarely do I get the Jack or king..

Luke Dancy and Josh Norris reviewed it on the magic session. Really looking forward to get this one. A question here though, what if the audience wanna take a look at the wallet after performance? (I know that with proper presentation and "audience control" there shouldn't be any suspicion on the wallet and other props.) |

The wallet is not examinable by the spectators

@bghost - egoli is right, the wallet is not examinable... HOWEVER the routining and the patter take the heat off of the wallet and place the focus on the cards and the photo... these on the contrary are 100% examinable. when I perform it I just pocket the wallet and leave the other items in front of them.
I did a full review of this on the magic marketplace this past sunday and also a live performance..... feel free to check it out for a more in depth review by luke dancy and i. link below... -josh http://themagicsession.com/on-demand/mag......04-10-11 |
