This is one of my favorite effects of ALL TIME (not just on the site) and its finally here. Which I have been doing for around 10 years now, and Magick has been doing it pretty much forever Smile I hope you guys check it out and enjoy it! Thanks so much, and thanks to everyone who has supported us so far!

Centrifugal is a DVD + ITR (Invisible Thread Reel) for $45...which is awesome since ITR's are usually around that price by itself.

Thanks

I'm not fishing for methods here, but how different is Centrifugal from Tarantula?

That's a fair question, as many people are wondering the same thing. First off, not to knock the Tarantula, but lets just say many people were not happy with the quality of the gimmick. In Centrifugal, you get an ITR with the DVD, which has been proven to be durable, practical, and totally awesome! Also, the hookup Magick uses is great, set-up in less than a second, and once you finish your float, you are automatically unhooked, and end totally clean. If you know other methods for these type of effects you know what I mean ;-) Plus, for the price of $45, it can't be beat, IMO
Thanks, and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the quick answer, Alex!

I was generally happy with the Tarantula, but unhooking the thing is not as practical as I would have hoped (and frankly destructive in most cases).
So I might just have to take a look at Centrifugal...

I got to preview the DVD about a week ago, and I gotta say that Magick is a great teacher. I got to see him do some ITR stuff a few years back during my last visit to Fantasma and he really knows his stuff. Anyway, here's a review for it:

DVD Contents:

-Performances
-History of the ITR
-ITR Hookup
-Floating Coin
-Floating Ring
-Levitation Subtleties
-Lemon/Lime in Drink
-How to Repair the ITR

In this DVD, Magick Balay from New York City goes over his handling of the ITR. It starts off with a few performances of him doing the floating coin, floating ring, and my personal favorite, lime in drink, all of which are in a close-up/”street”/bar setting. After the performances, he goes over the history and different types of ITRs that have evolved from the original. I found this section to be really interesting because you actually get to see each ITR and how it evolved and shrunk in size for better usage. He also tells you the supplies you’ll need to repair your ITR. You should have most of these items sitting around at home. After these two sections, he goes into how to perform the effects.

***The Centrifugal package also comes with your very own ITR!

Magick’s instructions are very detailed and no one should have any trouble following his directions, whether you’re using the ITR for the first time, or if you’ve been using the ITR for years. He teaches you how he hooks up his ITR for the floating coin/ring and it’s not a difficult hookup at all. The best part about this hookup is that while you are talking to your spectators, you are able to hookup your ITR and the coin and it will be ready to go within five seconds. Magick also teaches some subtleties that he uses to make the levitation more realistic. If you watched his performances (as you should’ve before watching the instruction!), you’ll see how magical his levitations really look. A bonus effect he included is his lime/lemon in drink, which is where you make a lemon or lime that’s wedged on the lip of a glass and make it jump into the drink. Personally, I think that this effect is the best one of the three because it’s quick, it’s easy, and as Magick says in the video, it’s a great opener and a great way to start a conversation.

The next part of the DVD is how to repair your ITR. The ITR is bound to break at some point, whether the thread snaps or if the bands inside break, so it’s great that Magick added this section to the DVD. He goes over everything from how to get the thread out of the hole to how to replace the reel completely. He also encourages you to take your ITR apart and follow along. Again, he goes over everything step by step and as I followed along, I had no problem taking apart and repairing my ITR. Magick also talks about the different waxes that you can use for your ITR, all of which are easy to obtain. Personally, I think that this section is where you get way more than your money’s worth.

Overall, this is a great DVD on the ITR. If you’ve never even seen an ITR in person and want to start getting into thread work, this is the DVD to get. If you’re a pro with using the ITR and have been for years, there are some things that you can still pick up from Magick while watching this DVD. It’s a great source for learning about the ITR and the tricks (especially lime in drink!) are hard hitting, practical, and easy for anybody to learn.

Gorecki, you won't be disappointed! And if for some reason you feel that the Centrifugal routine is not for you, you always have an ITR to do a myriad of effects, so its pretty much a win-win if you ask me...but you shouldn't ask me..I'm biased Smile

I've had the pleasure of seeing Magick perform this live, and when I say "pleasure" I mean it- it was a truly wonderful experience. The effect looks like real magic, and once the method was explained to me I was impressed with the ease of handling. Later Alex shared some of the footage with me from the new dvd, and it's incredibly well shot.

All in all, this looks like a very powerful piece of magic. And for $45 you get a dvd, a killer routine, AND a high quality ITR? Insanely good deal!

Thanks Vinny!

This is a very easy thing to review though- we know the method: ITR. We know the effect: we can see it on video. The questions then are: a) quality of production, b) quality of instruction and c) getting in and out. I'm happy to say it gets thumbs up from me on all three areas!

We got some awesome quotes from great magicians! Just thought I might share it, especially Tony Chang's! haha

"Magick absolutely blows people away with his beautiful handling of this effect. Hundreds of live performances have turned this into a true masterpiece of magic!"
- Michael Ammar

"If I had to float a coin, I'd do it with my mind. But since 99.9% of the world doesn't have my powers, this is the next best thing"
- Tony Chang

"Magick, as always, has taken a trick and turned it into a miracle"
- Dan White

Thanks Ben for the great posts! We've been getting a great response from this and it deserves it! Smile

Exitmat! Totally missed your post, my fault! The ITR included with the dvd can be clipped in many places. Magick attaches the ITR inside his button down shirt but also shows you ways to put it in your jacket, etc. Honestly, I have used it out of my pocket, or on my belt with a t-shirt over. Just play around with it and whatever is more comfortable for you should work! ITR's are very versatile. Thanks so much for the question, and let me know if there is anything else!

If you're going to wear a t-shirt, it helps to wear a wife beater underneath and you can clip it on the shoulder under your shirt.

One more Question, as People say getting .Out is Easy, Can it be done by Doing no Funny moves, Because in these types of circumstances, Getting out is the hard part?

Though it does require practice (as does everything else in magic), the out is very easy to do.

Magick Balay is a pure joy to watch perform. His routines are always practical, very well thought out and always fry his audience. If you've seen him do his bill switch you know what I'm talking about. He even performs my own effects better than I do. So I have no doubt this is a real winner. Never been one for IT, but might have to consider it here.

Just got this. I was lucky enough to see Magick perform the "floating coin" a while back during a trip to Fantasma Magic in the Big Apple, and I hoped that he would someday release the inner workings to the magic fraternity so that I could learn the finesse that makes this trick look so magical. Magicians will of course know that IT is somehow used to create the effect, but the easy to follow step-by-step teaching from a real pro and the tips that are true gems and based on years of experience make the DVD/ITR combo a real bargain. I had never witnessed firsthand the "floating ring" that Magick does, but I heard from a friend how cool it looked. The clever and deceptive hookup for this routine as well as the actual landing of the ring on one's outstretched finger make this a miracle class trick. I can harldy wait to start practicing.

Best,
MJ

Like MJ Marrs said, Magick demos at Fantasma Magic in NYC so if anyone is in the area you must stop in and see this live! He is such a great performer...a true magician!

A seperate download would have been a good idea for those magicians who already had an ITR . Good for the magicians anyway .

I saw this item advertized on the Fantasma Magic website. According to the ad, it is only available for purchase at their store. Is there an alternative source, since I don't live anywhere near New York City?

The ITR that comes with the DVD is a Sorcery Shop Boss ITR (new improved one) supplied by the inventor himself, James George! Magick feels this is the perfect ITR needed for this effect. The Micro/Super Micro ITR would work just as well, however the one with the DVD is more versatile when it comes to attaching it almost anywhere. Thanks for your interest!

I believe this Boss has the Kevlar thread. As far as I'm aware, only the new Titan reel has the Vectra thread.

Thanks Kevin , but I'm not sure what you mean : " I beleive that .." . Does that mean you don't know ?
I am trying to get the best set up for an impromptu spinning ring and I heard the vectra is excellent . Alex says Magick has chosen the best ITR for this effect .I am not a fan of mystery when it comes to buying products so I would like to find out which it is ?
Secondly as it is supplied by James George does it come with his instructional download package etc.
This deal looks very attractive but I want to clarify these things before buying my ITR .

Hey!

Its kevlar thread in the new and improved boss itr. As far as the instructional download is concerned, we do not offer that because Magick's DVD covers everything in depth that you would need to know for working with an itr, including taking apart and re-assembling the itr! Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have any more questions.

Just to be clear this is not an accusation just a question as they look very similar to me.
