A seperate download would have been a good idea for those magicians who already had an ITR . Good for the magicians anyway .

I saw this item advertized on the Fantasma Magic website. According to the ad, it is only available for purchase at their store. Is there an alternative source, since I don't live anywhere near New York City?

As the ITR is a selling point of this could you say which model it is ?

The ITR that comes with the DVD is a Sorcery Shop Boss ITR (new improved one) supplied by the inventor himself, James George! Magick feels this is the perfect ITR needed for this effect. The Micro/Super Micro ITR would work just as well, however the one with the DVD is more versatile when it comes to attaching it almost anywhere. Thanks for your interest!

That is great . Uh , but which one is the new one ? Which thread does it use ? kevlar or the vectra ?

I believe this Boss has the Kevlar thread. As far as I'm aware, only the new Titan reel has the Vectra thread.

Thanks Kevin , but I'm not sure what you mean : " I beleive that .." . Does that mean you don't know ?
I am trying to get the best set up for an impromptu spinning ring and I heard the vectra is excellent . Alex says Magick has chosen the best ITR for this effect .I am not a fan of mystery when it comes to buying products so I would like to find out which it is ? Secondly as it is supplied by James George does it come with his instructional download package etc. This deal looks very attractive but I want to clarify these things before buying my ITR . |

Hey!
Its kevlar thread in the new and improved boss itr. As far as the instructional download is concerned, we do not offer that because Magick's DVD covers everything in depth that you would need to know for working with an itr, including taking apart and re-assembling the itr! Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have any more questions. Alex^ |

How is this different than Spun by Morgan Strebler? http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/976
Just to be clear this is not an accusation just a question as they look very similar to me.

Hey
Centrifugal is by far (in my opinion and many others) the cleanest and easiest floating coin/ring out there. For one thing, this uses an itr, so that means you wont have to worry about carrying thread around, tangling it up, and all the problems that come with working with loose thread. You can say the same thing about tarantula, "hey it looks the same" however using an ITR is the way you want to go, no batteries, nothing concealed in your hand, and all that stuff. Also, getting in an out of the hookup will take literally 2 sec, as opposed to other hookups. Lastly, the DVD not only comes with an ITR, but Magick teaches everything you need to know about working with the ITR, taking it apart, putting it back together, fixing it, different types of waxes, etc. Simply put, I truly believe this is the way to go if you want to do this effect. Happy to answer anything else :-p Thanks Alex^ |

Hey Alex , I really appreciate you answering these questions so openly . I am about to get an ITR and some instructional dvd combo and my first desire is to develop an excellent spinning ring .
So my questions are : 1. Having heard that Magick has a great handling of this effect is encouraging but what is the greatness here . The trailer shows nothing special whatsoever , just the ever popular out of focus mood setter . Perhaps the presentation IS the secret but can you elaborate ..as there are many alternatives on the market . 2. I am very attracted to the idea of the strongest thread , particularly as you can be safer with bigger rings . I beleive that is Vectra , now available in a handy reel e.g. http://www.emagicsupply.com/index.php?ma......s_id=158 . or the Titan . Would this not be the best ITR for this effect ? Is there something about the Kevlar ITR you offer that makes it better ? 3. If we have or choose a different ITR is there any way you could offer Magicks special handling as a download ? or download and a few recommended options for ITR . Any chance you could package your dvd with a Vectra ITR ? Thanks in advance Roki |

Roki,
My opinion is that there is no need for the vectra for the spinning ring effect you want to develop. Kevlar is more than needed. Remember, vectra, kevlar, whatever it may be, thread is thread and it will break...the most important thing is to get instructions on the correct way to use the ITR and you should be fine, and Centrifugal is the go to place to learn to use the itr, not to mention coming with an itr! Thanks Alex^ |

Yep, Magick was doing this well before Kevlar ITRs were available, so I'd say thread strength is not paramount. How you handle/finesse the thread and ITR are much more important factors in breakage than the type/strength of the thread itself. For any normal coin or ring you'll borrow from a spec, Kevlar is more than strong enough. If you're wanting to float a full silver dollar, then Vectra is probably the way to go.
Magick's hookup and dismount are the quickest I've seen. No funny moves, you borrow the object, make it float instantly, and then hand it back immediately. There are no electronics/motors/batteries to worry about, and no permanent hookups with thread in the way. It's there when you need it, and not there when you don't. To a spec, any floating coin/ring looks the same in effect. It's sort of like the Easy Money, Hundy, Heiny, Extreme Burn, etc types of bill changes. Same impression on an audience, but the small differences and subtleties in method are what make one more preferable than another for magicians. As for the Boss being the best, that's in regards to the way the reel is built, not the thread inside. The Boss has an alligator clip instead of safety pins, allowing much more versatile placement of the ITR on your person. Kevin

Not to mention that Magick's instruction on how to repair the ITR is worth the price of Centrifugal alone.

I have been working with many types of thread and ITRs. This is my favorite by far. I have used the tarantula and have to pray that the thing would work. The tread on it would not hold my wedding band because it is made of plantnium and is very heavy. I have Fearson's master levitation system too, but I prefer not to carry thread on a card.
The boss unit is awesome, and Magick's placement and hookup is incredible. I was cautious before I purchased it, but when Magick did it with my ring he sold me. I have broke the thread, but it is quite simple to fix. There is no need to strip thread easy. Just put it on and go. I wear it everyday and now I don't even remember its there. The DVD is excellent and Magick is a good instructor. He explains everything about how to use this device and how to fix it. I feel extremely comfortable using it now with no fears. Sometimes I am a little rough with it and when spinning a heavy ring the thread will break immediately. This has only happened once it performace and I just made a joke about gravity, ect and used my backup Boss. So I recommend you buy two. |

Just got this, and I must say, this is great. Another solid release by Magick Balay.
When it comes to thread work, I've been a big fan of Loops for years now. I've never liked trying to manage loose thread set-ups, always preferring being able to easily get in and out of my thread effects using Loops. I'd played with ITRs before, but never found a hook-up or handling I liked much. Until now. Magick Balay's handling of the ITR--getting into the hook-up and then back out so you're clean afterwards, right in front of the spectator--is all well thought-out and completely motivated. Very smart justifications in movements. And the main effect with the hook-up--the centrifugal spin levitation of coins, rings, bottle caps, etc.--looks like real magic. I think the use of the ITR, and Magick's handling of it, is really the most practical way to do this effect for a working magician. I recently performed it for a friend who has a real knack for figuring out magic effects. Even though she never sees any moves, and has no magic knowledge, she's always good at breaking down methods with statements like "somehow you switched it and...". She's my test person. So I showed her the spinning quarter and it just really amazed her. She loved it. It passed the test. Also, since I often don't wear a button down shirt for hooking up the ITR, I worked out a way to hook up the ITR out of a pants pocket, and in my opinion, it works every bit as well as the shirt hook-up. This is the placement of the ITR I think I'll be using most, and it's working great for me so far. It's just as easy to get in and out of Magick's hook-up and the centrifugal levitation effect. So if you're holding off on getting this because of a clothing requirement, don't! In my opinion there really isn't one--you just have to change the anchor point of the ITR. The handling remains the same. So, all around, this is an excellent product--both the DVD and what it teaches, as well as the Boss ITR that accompanies it. Great work, guys! -Mat |
