Several postings back I mentioned that Palmer "The Wizard" Tilden, the founder of Sterling Magic, mnufactured several of Steve Dusheck's creations such as Wunderbar, Lethal Tender, etc. I regret to say that Palmer died in October of 2011. He contracted an extremely serious form of Parkinson's Disease a few years ago.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend. Thanks for sharing such wonderful historical stories with us!

David,

I haven't seen one like that, but it sure does sound nice! I know that Todd has used African coins for some of his. Doesn’t mean it is, but I guess it could be.

I don't think it's a Lassen slip,
there's no maker's mark like there is on his other coins.
If this slip is a Lassen, then I received a wonderful set.

Those African dimes and pennies really are beautiful. I have an SS that was sold to me as a Lassen set made with an Irish copper coin ( the one with the lyre) and a 64 Kennedy. Mine also has no stamp, but he did not stamp his earlier gaffs. Lassen used East and South African and Irish copper coins fairly often years ago. I also have an Irish non-exp s***l set from Lassen (no stamp) that I use occasionally. I have not heard of any other gaff maker using African or Irish coins (other than Schoolcraft), but if so, I'm sure someone will post.
