I'm floored - has anyone else seen this yet?
The mention of the voltage requirements is interesting - as is the high end price point. I don't have the historical perspective that many of you guys do, especially Stereo and Killertweety. But isn't this pretty rare for Tenyo to put like something like this out? All I can say is "wow." This must be magnetic eh? But looks so smooth and clean - really beautiful. This would be fun to have on a desk year 'round. Looks like SEO has this in stock for $175. http://www.seomagic-usa.com/catalog/prod......s_id/692 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXV2HunhR0E

Insane...
I'm going to get this. Too cool. BTW, looks like electromagnents to me. Notice the varying rotation speeds of levitated objects. More applied voltage, more revolutions, less applied voltage less revolutions. I'm speculating of course, but seems plausible. I will tell you that if you do a search for Tenyo on that site, there are several "non-standard" tricks attributed to Tenyo such as "Gorilla Bar". Not sure if some of these are Tenyo releases or if they are Tenyo releases but just simply not produced as a part of the yearly product line. Cool find! |

DEfinitely cool, great way to display your favorite Tenyo trick!
Houdini, yes those items are definitely Tenyo, including Gorilla Bar. The Gorilla Bar is on the "official list" - TC-3 (1886). John |

Quite interesting. Yes, definitely pricey for a typical Tenyo. Which begs the question...is this Tenyo Elite? Specially released Tenyo? I don't see it offered elsewhere yet. Wondering if it will be.
Thanks Saysold1 for posting this. |

It almost seems like a special project for the Japanese market only - maybe something for dealer displays???
I'm only guessing but the description makes it sound like this was not intended for foreign consumption necessarily. Price? High compared with typical Tenyo retail fare sure. But not really compared with some of the collectors stuff you guys ruminate over. Looking forward to a review on this!

I found this from 4 years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LduuKxA4GUA this seems to be the same thing? I guess this trick was indeed a sort of novelty item for the Japanese market.
Tricks/gadgets like that have been available for quite some time in Europe - I saw one 'live' a few years ago and it's very beautifull indeed. Available not far from where I live: http://www.gadgetsshop.be/zwevende-wereldbol-p-98.html or http://www.ultragadgets.nl/contents/nl/p......bol.html - Shouldn't be to hard to find a sort of magnet that you can put into an empty cardbox to have the same effect as tenyo's version. And take a look at the price ... much cheaper than Seomagic. I don't know the quality is the same however. |

This is the second time there is a post that highlights the exorbitant price of seomagic lol

Not the first time Tenyo has made "magical" items. Granted this is more expensive but they have made cool devices with banks, the Pantom clock, etc.
It is defintely neat, I like the floating wine glass that you included on the link Killertweety. I remeber playing with the "Levitron" years ago (floating spinning top), these are basically advanced versions of that concept. Stereo, not sure I would say that SEO's prices are exorbitant, actually their Tenyo prices overall are quite fair for the U.S. I have never ordered from them but enjoy checking the site to see what is new. Cheers, John |

I guess I'm missing something... how are their prices higher than other dealers in NA? I actually like the site as they have unique items not available elsewhere. Again perhaps I am missing something (wouldn't be the first time!)

I may be confused with hanklee at the time of new 2011 tenyo line.

I think you can save more than half from SEO's price. This apparently is manufactured br Levitron / Fascinations and appears to do everything the Tenyo one does. The only question I have is SEO Tenyo mentions being able to levitate up to 5 oz while the Levitron sites say 3 oz...so it is possible that the Tenyo offers some improvement.

Hi towledge:
Yeah that looks identical to the version on the SEO site. It is a good chance that it is the same one. When Tenyo made the Phantom Clock it was distributed by a company called Fascinations as well. Could be the same type of arrangement with this item, Tenyo manufactures and sells the distribution rights to Fascinations. Stereo, I think you are right, there were some comments on Hanks high prices on the Tenyo line this year. Most other North American dealers offered similar prices initally as well. John |

Keep in mind Tenyo makes toys (puzzles mostly) and this was at the Japanese toy fair a few years ago for globes. Neat, but pricey. You can get a converter, but for over $100 you'd expect one to come with it
Speaking of the 2011 line, I found someone on ebay selling a Ghost Lamp for around $40! Perhaps I'm dumb for telling you that, as I'm now in the process of getting spares so I can perform some Tenyo "in the wild" without fear of stuff breaking...

Hey superpixel, our friend Hitomi in Japan has been selling Ghost Lamp for less than $40 sine it was released. She is a great dealer, fast, and fair shipping rates.

I have no see English packaging for the 2011 line. They exist ?
Maybe the "Duo" word of the Fantasy universe Duo is for the little holder plate and this is why the price more expensive that the precedent edition with just the earth ( but maybe the cheap edition have the holder plate too I don't know) Do you know Tenyo Chouchou ? I Like this one :o) So cuuuute ! It's one of the last Tenyo best seller around the world and Tenyo make arrangment with compagny which sell the Chouchou under other names like "My butterfly" in jar etc http://www.krisabel.ctv.ca/post/The-Teny......ver.aspx |

Stereo, yes english packaging does exist for the 2011 line. I saw some examples on the Abbott's magic site. Thanks for the link, I did not realize this novelty was a Tenyo idea. I picked one of these up at my local magic shop a few months ago. This would be very cool if you could activate it with a small remote. Then the butterfly could react when it sees the chosen card or when someone is telling a lie. The movement is very real.
