So I dropped my deans shell. There's a small dent in it which causes the coins to get stuck. I called Schoolcradt and he was great and offered to email a video which would show me how to repair it. Unfortunately it's been a week and he hasn't replied yet. I'm sure he's just busy so I'm wondering if anyone else has this video or could offer help? He mentioned something about using a wooden dowl. Thanks in advance.

To clarify, I cam get the coins out by spinning them, I just need to know how to repair the dent in the shell.

Option 1:
Lay a silk across the shell and firmly insert a coin. Pull the silk taut to remove the coin. This will slightly stretch out the shell so the coin should no longer need a "spin". If it's particularly tight, fold the silk to use two or more layers. But be gentle and don't try to do too much at once or you may overdo it. Option2: With a coin in the shell roll it along its edge on a hard flat surface. The should help to round out the dent and help keep the shell from catching. Option 3: Wait for Jamie's reply. |

I recommend sending another e-mail to Jamie Schoolcraft. I think you are correct that he is just very busy. I had a similar experience and just needed to send a few e-mails to remind him I needed help. He is very nice and very knowledgable. It is worth sending the extra e-mail reminding him you need help. His products are great as you know. Good luck.

Try Todd Lassen's repair method He uses a BIC lighter to repair the shell. |

Todd's method is the way to go. It has saved me more times than I care to admit.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll try Todds trick and let you know how it works. I'm hesitant to try the silk method because I don't want to stretch the shell out as it's a very tight fitting shell and I'd like to keep it that way.

I go with the silk route.

Dropped an unexpanded shell. Coin impossibly lodged. Used a tumbler to shake it loose and then Todd’s lighter method to smooth out the ding. All is good now.

Had to give a shout out to the Cafe and this thread. Last weekend while busking, two shells from my Hopping Half set got hopelessly stuck together.
They'd gotten stuck in the past, and I was able to do the "Put in glass and shake" to dislodge them, but this time they were jammed together solid. From another thread I learned about using duct tape to separate them...and it worked! I would have never had thought of that... Then there was a link to this thread...where I learned about the silk technique and using a Bic lighter to straighten the sides of the shells...I used them both to adjust my shells, and they're like new! This is why I love the cafe! Thanks all!
