LUIS DE MATOS (23.August.1970)
Luis de Matos is a professional magician in Portugal. He began making guest appearances on television in 1990 and two years later hosted his own television series entitled “Isto é Magia!” (This is Magic). This was followed by several other magic series including “Noite Mágica”, “Illusões com Luis de Matos”, “Luis de Matos Ao Vivo”, “Shalakabula” and, just this year, “Luis de Matos Mistérios” a 13 x 1 hour series for RTP 1 in Portugal.
He was named Magician of the Year by the Academy of Magical Arts in 1999, is magical consultant to Portugal’s National Theatre, was artistic director of FISM 2000 in Lisbon and currently produces several annual magic festivals in Portugal.
His biggest project to date is the creation of “Estúdio 33” in his hometown of Coimbra. It is the purpose built magical headquarters of Luis de Matos Productions, housing a fully rigged theatre, rehearsal space, reference library, workshop and offices.
