Would you consider Dan and Dave two of the most talented card manipulators?
I mean comparing to many magicians, those two have not been into the business for ages, only around 12 years, but they are darn good at it and making up their own flourishes and sleights (which most of them are quite hard to do). Would a normal people be able to reach their level in that short period of time? Normal I mean normal talented, but hard working. |

They are probably the most talented flourishers flourishers. No offense to them but I don't think that they are very good magicians.

I just spent a few days around the Twins and in my opinion they are both extremely talented at flourishing as well sleight of hand! They are very well read in the classics and I've seen them fry laymen and magicians alike!

They`re talented flourishers and sub-par magicians.
Or, at least, that`s what I thought before I met them. In person though I had the pleasure of seeing them work- and they`re funny (in their own way, lol), extremely talented (they do some classic stuff, like DPS and bottom deals, extremely well!) and think about magic in a very unique, and beautiful, way. Suffice to say, I`m a fan. They are very, very good. Ben

But first and foremost, they're excellent businessmen.

So you think normal person (not talented, not hard working) need maybe their lifetime e.g.30 years to reach their standard?, or never?

Also, I am kind of annoyed that all of their invented (or should I say modified) sleights require extremely finger coordinatioln and strength.
is there any way that I can train those fingers? I have a hand grip thing (the one you see in dan and dave's website, I got the 7bl one) |

My experiences with Dan and Dave is similar to Ben. Being a lover of classic card magic, I was quick to dismiss them as jugglers when they hit the scene. Then I met the twins on a trip to Vegas and was not only impressed by their skills as entertainers, but more imporanatly as fine members of our community who are very giving to anyone who has a question.

There's a quote in the Vernon Book of Magic, attributed to Daley I believe, in which he offers this seemingly simple, and singular, piece of advice:
Learn to use a knife and fork. Now over the years I've done a lot of thinking about it, and what I think it means, to some degree, is that many doors will open for you if you develop basic social skills. If you want to hang out with one of your idols, you need to be the kind of person they WANT to hang out with. Skill in regards to magic is certainly a plus, but the most important consideration is the 'other' factors. Are you well dressed, or would someone be embarrassed to be seen with you? Have you showered and brushed your teeth? Are you able to carry on a conversation (talking AND listening)? Are you interesting? Funny? Kind? Etc. Be a good magician, and an even better person, and you'll have no trouble making contact and building relationships with the people you're interested in meeting. Best, Ben

I assume it's an update. Maybe they'll be opening the "Academy" section or they'll let you download the effects. I checked on the boards at theory11 and they didn't know what was up either. I guess we'll find out in 4 hours!
