Also, once dried out on the card, it is harmless. Just compare it to normal roughing where over time of use the preparation is getting weaker. So the sprayed particles there get lost or interact with the environment, while this is not the case with Science Friction (at least as far as I know, not being a chemist).

It's true that if it doesn't seem to go weaker, then this probably doesn't interact with my skin...
Just to be sure, I will avoid "card to mouth"

Thanks

Just got my Science Friction yesterday. All I can say is Wow! Never would have known about it if not for you Magic Café users. Thanks folks! I was planning on continuing to use the less expensive Krylon for my IDs in order to have my SF last as long as possible. Anyone use a can up yet? Any ideas of approx how many cards we can spray? I know it depends some on how much of the card is sprayed.

I sprayed several cans when preparing the cards for One Card Collector and Delicious Ambitious. With three coatings I always was able to spray more than 600 cards.

Thank you for the info. I think I may just go ahead and use for an ID deck.

I received my SF items a few weeks ago (USA) and have been working through the effects on the DVD. I've only sprayed a few cards (less than 10). This week I've started working on Friction Transpo. But, it seems that I can't properly spray a card. I get a very light, thin application that wears out rapidly. I'm using the same technique shown on the DVD to spray cards. The treated area on the card looks very weak and thin. Cards I sprayed previously still work properly; it's just the double-facer that came with the SF kit that has problems.

Do you have any suggestions about this problem? Thanks!

P.S. I tried posting this comment on the Members section of the Science Friction Spray website. Even though I'm a member, it still requires me to set up an additional account with some other service to post a comment! Maybe that's why there is so little activity there???

Hi Ron,

the closed forum has more entries than you might expect, just open all and you will see the the threads.

I had to work with a reliable forum software, that manages the possibility of posting and managing the entries. Unfortunately I could not find a way how to keep this forum closed for reading. So the Science Friction password allows to GET INTO the forum and to read, the registration there (what can be your Facebook account, Twitter or others) allows to also post.

Your problem definitely seems to be, that you did not shake the can well enough. Do some exercises for yourself and shake it for 3 minutes. Yes, you read correct: 3 minutes. The ingredients need to be well mixed, it seems that you only sprayed the aerosol out with only a few particles. Shaking definitely improves the result!

Card-Shark, thanks for the reply and information. I resprayed some cards this evening after a rousing 4 minutes of shaking the can. I'll let you know how the new ones work. I do think my arm muscles are getting bigger though!

In some of your posts here you mention three light applications of the spray. Could you clarify please: Do you mean three separate light sprays and drying each one before applying the next one? Or is is simply the three back-and-forth passes with the spray can as shown on the DVD. Thanks in advance for the information.

Regarding the login process for the Members part of the web site, I'll take it off-list and send you a PM.

Thanks!

I owned it too. It's a great weapon when handled correctly. It's not easy and you really have to deal with it for a while.

I am talking about back-and-forth passes, thin layers. More via PM, thanks

I just picked up a copy of Delicious Ambitous to check out how the treated cards look and handle, and I have questions.

In particular, w/respect to these early claims of the product:

Quote:
Prepared Cards can be Handled by Spectator, the Preparation stays Undetectable
Science Friction, if applied properly, is undetectable for spectators, so that you even can give away the prepared cards!

In my opinion, the cards in the package are far from "undetectable". The prepared areas were quite visible to me in the right light, and I think readily detectable if even a slightly curious spectator felt the cards' surface. I would not be at all comfortable handing one out.

So as not to give more away, I can describe what I'm seeing/feeling in more detail via PM.

When you apply Science Friction onto cards yourself, you decide and experiment, which amount would work best for you.
While I am fine with a light coating, others feel more comfortable with a much more solid coating. We decided to apply 3 layers, to make sure that the cards would WORK for everybody. I now realize that we also have to keep in mind, that people should LIKE the treated cards as well. I will discuss this with my team. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply.
It's not that I don't LIKE them (and they DO work) , it's just that what I'm seeing here isn't undetectable as described, so I was wondering if there was something "wrong" with what I received. I've provided details in a PM.

I bought Delicious Ambitious a while back and loves it so I finally placed an order for the Science Friction kit throughCard Shark. I am looking forward to receiving it. I bought Inferno as soon as it came out and was not let down by the product or the service provided by Card Shark. I see a bright future of purchasing from these guys. Can't wait.

Just got Delicious Ambitious to try it out. Very interesting. Took a little fiddling, but I've think I've got it now. Very smooth. I think it can have some very interesting applications, but I'm a little confused by the harsh division over this product. It really seems to split people: some because they prefer pure sleight of hand and think it is a pointless product; others because they think it is a rip-off price wise. I'm going to spend a little time with the DVD that came the gimmicked cards and see ... but right now it seems quite good to me.
