You can't hand out the balloon at the end. But this shouldn't prevent you from using this idea. Great concepts like this are the basic ingredients - it's your job as a performer to cook all the ingredients up, and present your audience with a fabulous banquet. I really love Michael's ideas, but I will be melding them into my own presentations, so that this little gem is just a bit of extra seasoning to add some bite to an already tasty dish. Considered as a part of a complete routine, this is the zest that will have everyone coming back for more. As a stand alone effect, it could be anything form ingenious to ingenuous.
Everything I use is part of a show - and as part of a show, this is priceless! Vary tasty! :dancing: |

Might be a way to modify it to work, but as Michael says in the download, why can't you restore it again? Would be fun to play with that concept though. I just don't think it would work with Mark's original handling. Sammy

In the explanation video, I talk a little bit about the psychology behind the idea of leaving without handing out the balloon. Essentially the entire thing depends on the idea of tying a knot in the balloon after the restore. I think my words were something like "There's no reason to tie a knot in the balloon and NOT hand it out." But if you don't tie a knot in the balloon, it gives the impression that you can put this balloon in your pocket and do the trick again for the next group.

I'm rather anti giving things out "for examination". Do that, and your audience will want to examine everything. In all my years of performing magic, no one has EVER asked to examine anything. In my opinion, inflating the balloon after the restore, is proof that the magic has worked, nothing more is neccessary.
The whole point about a product being "examinable" is that this is what magicians want to do.....laymen are (hopefully) caught up in the performance, and are quite happy to be mystified. But, I do think that "repAIR" should be carefully placed into your show, with appropriate routining, as I've said. I see it as a very strong element to whatever routine you decide....but as a stand-alone effect, it begs too many questions. |

I just got this and I think it is wonderful. I'm going to add it to a routine when proving an ice pick is real by a balloon pop..then as if seeing someone is still skeptical.. blow it up and pop it again. Should be a nice "what the.." moment in the flow if I just let it slide by. Thanks for a great effect.

As emyers noted, I can't imagine what my perform to buy ratio/batting avg. might be? It's pretty horrible though - way below the mendoza line. It is so rare that I buy something that I end up performing for others let alone that I end up putting in show. I just purchased this though from website with fingers crossed. If it is half as good as it looks like it might be, I have a use for this immediately...... double crossing fingers now as I await download link...............................

And after you restore the balloon, blow it up, tie it, and proceed with a bottle production ala David Stone's Splash Bottle. Everyone is looking at the bottle and who cares about the torn pieces of a balloon.

I've gone through two bags of balloons practicing this. I just love watching the effect in the mirror! This is something I will do.
I really like the ice pick idea and the bottle idea. Things to think about. Sammy

Bought this and simly love it. However, I'm having an issue with the balloons I've purchased. Can't seem to find non-transparent baloons. I purchase the balloons Sammy J recommended from Wal-Mart and for my liking, they are to transparent. Actually, I've purchase 8 differend manufactures of balloons and have had the same issue with all of them. Anyone recommend a non-transparent balloon?

The only balloons I use are Qualatex, and the opaque ones are good, solid opaque balloons. Annoyingly, I had just placed a massive order for balloons the day before I found out about repAIR. And I have no suitable balloons to practise with at the moment!
Just one thought, it might be possible to use a glue dot to make the handling even easier. Those who have this will understand what I mean. I've tried this (with totally the wrong balloons - 11" heart balloons, as it was the closest I had to the "right" ones), and it does work, but when I try "Needle Through Balloon" first...the balloon sometimes pops prematurely, and I think a glue dot might be of some use. If you don't know, glue dots are small dots of glue used to attach tricky bits when balloon sculpting. Potty |
