Paul,
Thanks for the post. Glad you like the book. The new book I am working on, like The Book of Destiny, will have quite a bit of mathematically based effects that are easy to do. Don't miss toward the end of The Book of Destiny Aunt Tilly's Will which is not a card effect but a self-working prediction effect with audience participation that also is mathematically based. You can do this close up or on a stage. Larry |

Larry, I will buy this book as soon as I can afford it. I tried to get my wife to buy it for me for Christmas but I struck out.

I have to go no record and say, I just love the 21st Century Coin Mechanics Book. Just the vanishes alone are worth the price of the book. Larry also supplies you with one of his dollar size Chinese coins which are great to practice with. I like them so much I ordered four more! With our a doubt Larry's communication and support with his products are second to none. Working with coins for over 50 years, you are never to old to learn something new and with Larry's Book, you will. It is worth the investment!
Thanks Larry |

I agree with ottphd about 21st Century Coin Mechanics. There are some fabulous moves in that book which I think anyone can learn. In his newest release The Book of Destiny some of those moves are used in a few chapters but they are also taught in the book and taught on video. For example in Penny-wise he teaches the Pivoting Changeover Palm in the book and the video and gives also a non sleight of hand version too. In the Cups and Balls chapter the Flying Changeover Palm Vanish is taught in the book and on the video that comes with Book of Destiny. He also gives an easier alternative. Throughout the book I found that Larry gives options when it comes to sleights and moves so you don't have to give up on a trick because of one move that you may not want to learn. The book is a treasure trove of wonderful magic routines with very original plots.

Thanks Paul and Jim for those positive comments about both books.
The Book of Destiny I believe has something for everyone regardless of skill level. For example, the last trick in the book, Buried Treasure of Triangle Island, is essentially self-working. You need to be able to conceal or palm a coin in your hand and give the spectator clear instructions. That's it. It's one of those effects the spectator will always remember since the magic occurs in his hand, in a way like the sponge ball trick with two balls appearing as the spectator's hand opens. But that's only one climax of the effect. The spectator first picks any site on the island map, determines the coordinates with a ruler, adds those numbers, and counts down in the deck (digging to the depth) to find a card which turns out to be the only treasure card in the deck. The treasure card is found at the numbers the spectator adds up due to a mathematical principle never used in magic before. Best, Larry |

Just saw the learned doctor on TV in Upstate NY doing a promotion for his hospital's new 3 Tesla MRI unit. Very smooth presentation.
Really enjoying this large new book. The folding sequence false shuffle used in chapter 1 Look to the Cards is something that can be used as a utility for different routines. His sponge ball routine is now in my repertoire. The swivel move is very deceptive and easy to do. I've gotten my old cups and balls off the shelf and have started working on the routine in the book. Lots of very good material, well explained in the book and DVD. BJ |

I have this book and it is fantastic. Larry was very helpful about getting the material down to me in Aus. The postage was a big rough but that wasn't his fault. The books are made very nicely and will hold together for a long time. Highly recommended!

Thanks Nathan for the feedback. Glad you like the book. For multi-bookorders like yours I ship as economically as possible and will pay part of the freight myself.
BJ, It was fun doing the TV spot. I had to do it for several different local networks. Several hours taping for less than a minute of airtime. SAVE MONEY: I'll be running from time to time some Magic Café ONLY Specials. One is running now and was announced in Latest and Greatest. go to this link for details about the special deals. Larry |

As I wrote on a different thread:
Mr. B., "Your card effects are spectacular; in the same class as Diaconis, Fulves, Hummer, and other such legends who utilize subtle principles. I do not want to derail this thread, but I feel compelled to give a loud shout-out and highly recommend your two most recent books. The card effects are THAT good" I will add (in this lineage of card effects): Tamariz, Aragon...
"Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time." "The dog did nothing in the night-time." "That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes. |

Been through the whole book. It's packed with many gems. The card magic is superb. I love Aunt Tilly's Will. Great routine for any audience. Mentalists will love it. Working on the cups and balls and the sponges now. ESP Duel with the gaffed deck is GREAT!!!
Any news on the new book? How about another contest. You haven't had one in a while. David |

Thanks David for the positive comments.
The new book is a work in progress. No title yet. 15 chapters written. In it I'm going to release what I think is the best self-working card trick I've seen. I've guarded this one for years and shown it only to laymen, and not one single magician. It'll be in the new book. Another contest? Sure, let me work on that. Stay tuned. Larry |

I just got the whole set of Larry's books and they are outstanding. He is a great teacher and I have found a lot of stuff I am going to use. Magicians of all skill levels and interests will enjoy them. His rope and ring work is worth the cost of the whole set of books. Great stuff!

Larry,
I love your One Hand Glide Change and the effect Tens the Hard Way. In your new book, are there any additional applications for that move? Oh, and when is the new book coming out? Paul |

Paul,
The One Hand Glide Change is a favorite move of mine and easy to learn. So far it is utilized in one effect in the upcoming book. However, as you know I provide alternatives to sleights in most of my effects so lack of mastery of a given sleight does not preclude one from performing a given routine. So far 29 chapters completed and photography of those is in progress. I still have more chapters to write and expect to have the book ready for my graphic artist next Spring. I would expect the book to be in print by the Fall of 2013. No firm title yet. Will take pre-orders only after the printer has the manuscript and can quote a firm shipping date. The new book has a lot of unique self-working effects based on mathematical principles and more than half of the book will consist of card magic. Original effects with cards, coins, salt, balls, crayons, The Periodic Table, predictions, apparatus and much more. By the way, The Trilogy Collection will still be available for Café members at the current discounted price until 21st Century Coin Mechanics is out of print. Larry |
