I agree Amira, as we know that for the most part when the audience gets home, they will be thinking about the performance and certain things that went on during that performance. This is not something I would personally use but at the same time I can see the initial impact it can have given at the time of the effect.

I've quickly seen through the method of Warlock (after watching it two times).
But that doesn't mean it's bad - the employed principles are simple and clever, and you can apply it to so many other patterns! Personally, I don't like predictions any more, so I would use my knowledge of the second participant's word in a different way.

Nicolino, I do agree; simple, but clever method (and a bow to Roy Johnson) with more applications. I've my doubts in general about the use of a dictionary in this context. But it's still worth a try. I guess that quite a lot of people (with some knowledge) after seeing the video won't buy it as it is easy to make it up by themselves, probably also using own business cards. A bit a shame for Peter as the whole package is a deal. Jan

Jan, can you direct me to Roy's work? Which book to start with would be worthwhile to hunt down? I was offered some notes in German but can't judge whether they are recommendable to begin with?
Thanks!

To be honest, I think I got everything in English, and it is all so good that I would say try to get everything you can get! As far as I know my collection is really complete and I love it... Jan

Big reaction appears to be similar to Phil/Phil2 etc using the SA P****a cards. Just a guess... Looks fun.
I liked Warlock better.

I love lots of Nyman's stuff but an effect like Big Reaction comes along once in a while that screams at me "Doesn't Invisible Deck more or less do that (i.e. they name any card - it turns out to be different to the others in the deck) for probably a 5th of the price?". Unfair?

I've just ordered one, I think this looks like a perfect closing trick to me, leave the audience cheering as you walk off to the next table. What you are paying for is a well structured ROUTINE.
Oh and I think most people here could either figure this method, or a workable method, but shouldn't we support the creator and buy it, and not just take his presentation without paying for it? IMHO |

I bought both of these (even though I basically already had one in Bulletproof) simply cos' I love Andy Nyman's stuff, the way he thinks, and I love watching / listening to him talk magic. True, I can afford to do such things, but that's not really here nor there. Great effects, both of them. Steph |

I think many people are missing the point as it comes to Big Reaction
Yes, a similar effect can be accomplished with an invisible deck or philldeck and others but then you miss the point. This is designed to get a Big Reaction at the end, a great opener for walk around with an instant reset, so you can do it again at the next table. With Lucky Cards you get a spectator to LOSE a game of chance, this is not a happy ending you want to leave your audience with. That´s why I like Big Reaction because you will always end with a Big Reaction. A force to a standing ovation… what do you want more?! A great way to start… and without very thin cards or anything unnatural… I really like Andy´s thinking! |

Warlock is similar to an effect I've been brewing up for the past four years. Although going through all of the discussion here shows I have a different method. However, this is Andy and the routine looks finely structured. Hands up there. Kudos to Andy again for a fine product!

I'd definitely recommend Big Reaction. There's soooooo many endless possibilities with this such as on Valentines day I presented it as Cupids Arrows, he missed every card with his arrows, managing to only hit the very card chosen. I had the most amazing reactions with this. Halloween holds a web on each card, but only one has the Spider so for any occasion and uses, Big reaction is fantastic. Just a bit of a handy hint, with my Cupids arrow method, I designed the cards in such a way, that not only do you go through the cards individually, but you can spread them all out on the table to look like empty arrows where the only card holding the heart is the one chosen by the spectator.
So yeah, I guess what I'm saying is, definitely get Big Reaction because no matter how you use this, you will get what the name says. |

I love the demo for Big Reaction. It is a funny trick and can be used for many other alternatives. Would love to see more reviews on this.

I've performed big reaction several times in the "real world" and as a closing effect. It has got great reactions. With the rhythm of the routine the focus is always on the card in between their hands. And all seems totally fair and quite impossible. Love the effect.

Warlock ,mmmmm been playing about with it today ,purchased it yesterday,a little disapointed on how the first chosen word is revealed ,HOW DO I MAKE IT, NOT SO OBVIOUS?because no matter how much the cards are shuffled and then put back,i can see a beady eyed spectator stating the obvious, more work needed from me,don t want to be seen Peeping ,just so obvious.
