A head's up.....JC will be on the New Year's special for Le Plus Grand Cabaret. I know it is seen in quite a few countries through cable networks, including Canada.

All the best.

I am sure JC will have it up on Youtube, or on his site! I am looking forward to seeing him work. Most of the time Cabaret does an excellent job with the magicians they have on so that's always good!

I should mention that is shown in the evening, and if you are taping, the show runs over 3 hours! You may want to verify.

I'm also looking forward to watching him and "Magic Babe" on Le Plus Grand Cabaret! He wrote about his experiences here http://backstagebusiness.wordpress.com/2......nd-more/

Cabaret does indeed film magicians well and make them look good! One of the very few TV shows that showcases and promotes a lot of magic acts from literally around the world.

I should also note here that the program is often replayed the next day, or during the week.

Also, one of the illusions being used (Womans Revolution) was created by an old friend from Toronto, Canada, Gerry Frenette of Magic Makers (illusions) and is available through him. I saw Gerry perform it here in Montreal awhile back and it gets GREAT reaction from the audience

Since I could not edit the above this is to mention the show is over 4 hours long (255 minutes), about 6-7 magicians including JC, Magic Unlimited and Dani Lary. I wanted to post the length as I have sometimes cut off the end of the show and the final "grand" illusion. Bummer!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!!!

Yes! They did a great job. High energy and exciting performance!

For those that are interested, they will be doing a mass mind reading mega illusion this Saturday and it will be streamed online. You can watch it at: http://www.jcsum.com/mindheist

The illusion seems to be "top heavy" to me.
The box appears larger than it actually should be.

I love "Babe Ning", and JC I consider a good friend too, but maybe the camera angles on some of the shots just didn't do it for me.

There is something about this illusion that is reminiscent of 180 by Mark Parker. It seems that the performer struggles to carry the weight to bring the top box into the correct position which caues a lack of fluency to an otherwise eyepopping illusion.
Yours Magically,
Lee Alex

Isn't that "Woman's revolution" by Gerry Frenette of MagicMakers? Sure looks like it. Though Gerry's prop is more visually balanced and not so top heavy.

It is but with modifications.

I've got a sawing that uses the same method and the top-heaviness is the nature of the beast but it allows you to totally separate the head. It's something I'm trying to address with mine by adding black borders to the box and potentially adding a sword box aspect to add some extra kick. (Being 6'3" doesn't help!)

At the end of the day I don't mind the illusion itself too much, although it wasn't my favorite performance of theirs. I typically really like JC and Ning's work, I find JC to be a good performer with a very strong stage presence. I think what this one was missing for me was purpose behind various elements. The swords at beginning and the grinder just seemed like time filler and didn't really fit for me. I would have liked to have seen him blast through it with his usual energy although I'm sure the producers had control over the timing etc so I can't blame JC!

Chris, what do you mean by totally separate the head? Gerry's top portion does totally separate.

I mean separate in that the box with the head is not connected to the box with the feet when the they are split. The boxes are absolutely separated from each other both in look and method - she's can't physically span between the two boxes.

Gotcha. Gerry's does separate completely as well and it is proportioned better. didn't much like this performance either-though Gerry's aint much better. It is a cute effect, I wish someone would really work with it to make a killer presentation. Chris, don't do the sword box addition (dont you think it'd be confusing without adding anything to the effect at hand?) but tighten the routine to 2,5 minutes and make it rock!
