I have an old Milton Bradley Knights Tomb and on one side of the cover the gimmick doesn't work.
To make things worse, as I was trying to figure out how to make the trick workable again, I slid a strong magnet over the top of the working side of the cover and scrambled the lines. I thought that they would restore themselves, but so far no good. So first of all, don't do something stupid with a magnet like I just did. My question is, does anyone have an idea of a material that I can replace the gimmick strips with to get the trick working again? Also is the gimmick the same on the Tenyo version as on the MB version? LMK Thanks AA |

That's definitely a drag. If you do a quick search of old posts there has been considerable written about this. General consenus is that the Tenyo version is easier to read.
Apparently the material Tenyo used is no longer availble. I suspect a clever person could replace it wth green magnetic imaging film available online. Decorative lines could be added with a fine Sharpie marker. John |

"Drag" is 100% correct. Drag a magnet across the gimmick and ruin your trick.
I am not too bummed about it because it was basically broken already with one side not working at all and on that side the gimmick has a different look to it as well (dull vs. shinny). I just pulled the trick out of a box at the bottom of the closet to see what I could do with it because it seems to be a hot trick lately. I think I read somewhere about the MB trick having some problems. IMHO I think MB better job than Tenyo with the motif. I like the Knights Templar theme better than the psychic symbols. AA |

I was reading in earlier posts about Diabolicus and Knight's Tomb that the consensus was that Tenyo's version is easier to read (also mentioned above by John). Did anyone who has both try switching the two white inserts to see if it is the m------ inside that are making the difference. There are ways to make the m------ stronger if that is the case.

Yes the consensus is that the Tenyo is easier to read, but is it the outside gimmick that makes it better or is it the inside white block? Or maybe it is both. Just wondering.

Interestingly,I have two of the Tenyo version of this trick and one is MUCH easier to read than the other. I wonder if they changed it at some point to make it easier or harder.
I believe I have tried switching the block between the Tenyo and MB versions and did not notice any difference. I think it is the outside gimmick that is slightly different. |

I would love to see a Tenyo elite version of Diabolicus! I had a conversation with one of the guys not too long back, and he said the strips are no longer available, The strip is basically a type of LCD screen. I searched on Google not too long back and didn't find anything either. Maybe someone at some point will stumble across one of these threads and know where to get the strip.

No strips but this stuff would work but don't think you can cut it without oil inside leaking.
They could make it special in strips if you wanted to buy a million of them I would bet hahaha http://www.amazon.com/Green-Magnetic-Fie......00UV8K2Y http://apexmagnets.com/index.php?main_pa......s_id=211 I already suggested it to Peter Loughran he thought it was an "awesome lead" to making diabolicus in the elite version.

The green magnetic film can be cut easily. I have played with this material in the past on a number of items I was "brainstorming". This material has been used in many commercial effects. I think it could be a viable solution for Diabolicus. A design could be printed on clear film and placed over the green material to help disguise the "tell". Surprised that Peter would not be aware of this material.

Good deal it can be cut. Have you exposed it to any pressure or heat or cold alternating back and forth after cutting it to see for sure it does not leak after cutting. For sure if cut in strips with laser or hot blade would insure it not to leak but good to hear. Told Peter tiny neodymium magnets that are super strong should work through thick material better than what may have been used before. I also told that it could have another film laminated over it that is segmented looking like the original to disguise it. Nope appeared Peter had never heard of it by his response to me. Richard

Hi Richard:
I have cut the sheets in many diffrent sizes and have had them now for a number of years and they still work fine. I really do not think leakage is an issue. I actually printed a clear sheet to resemble a business card and applied it to the material for an idea I was working on at the time. Worked great. The possible downside to this material is that you may need to swipe it with a magnet to "clear" it. John |

I just bought "The Knight's Tomb" by Tenyo for $20 online. I cannot find a performance of the trick anywhere online. I've become a Tenyo collector lately. Had to sell off an early "Cubio" to get other Tenyo stuff. Anybody have a link to a video of "The Knight's Tomb?" or the Milton Bradley version?
Cheers! |

I am still new to Tenyo (except for old childhood tricks I still have), and now confuse the products. At first I was disappointed with the gimmick being hard to read, but with my reading glasses and lots of practicing over and over and being aware of the subtleties, it works rather well, for now at least. |
