I think the effect is one that does not require patter. Seems to work out simply with gestures and music. With the liquid pours being the color of the bottle ) dye how can you lose? Make the audience work a bit... .

I know this is an old post, but the OP got me thinking, and I checked out the site for his purchase. There is another set also advertised, at a stupid-silly price. Never having owned a set of bottles, I'm asking, other than "you get what you pay for," what is the difference in these two sets? And what are you really paying for that makes these sets so vastly different in price? Thanks.
The second set is here: http://madhattermagicshop.com/magicshop/......id=11173 |

I think it has to do with moving stock more then pricing for profit.

There also could be a difference in the paint finish
of the bottles. That would be a hard one to call unless you knew for sure. Todd |

Well, I found out. After checking with the store owner and placing my order, he emails to say his new order came in of the bottles and they only had FOUR colors. He offered to cancel the order, which I took him up on. I spent years in retail so I know things can happen, but I also know less tolerant buyers might yell "bait and switch." I have enjoyed purchasing from this store in the past; can't understand why this version (illustration was for the MAK version, which everyone else advertises as 5 colors) is now apparently only 4.
Link to the product is now not valid, as the owner took it down til it can be "corrected." |

Yes, many dealers I have complained that the product is not the one pictured. They seem to think it okay just to take any picture off any of the web sites and plug it into their website. They do not open boxes if the product is not drop shipped, and they do not read the copy to see if it is accurate to the items in the box.
I ordered a product on eBay, when I got it, the photo did not match the product, the description was not of the product I received. The owner said to return it on my dime. I told him no way, the postal law is if you send a product to someone, they can keep it. I filed a claim through PayPal and they determined the seller was at fault and gave me a full refund. All I can say is, Buyer Beware! |

I got the 5 bottle set from madhatter with 5 different colors. The quality is very good. Great buy at the 35.00 dollar price.

Recently got a set of "Dessert Storm" bottles (5). ( can't remember where I bought 'em) The fit was so tight getween the green and the yellow bottles that the refused to separate. I found that the bottom of the green bottle had a slight flare, giving zero clearance. A little judicious hammer work over a round wooden form took it down to where it works fine. They were cheap.
The trick is dynamite, very dramatic and beautiful... For 99 cents you can get a set of small stemmed plastic disposable wine glasses that are just the right size. I mark the base of each one with what color to pour in it ( felt pen plus a small taped-on color patch) so I remember in which order the colors will go from left to right. It is important to do them in a certain order to vary the sizes of the bottles so no one will spot a pattern of diminuition, and also to get a pleasing pattern of colors. I made a board to mount them on so they would not blow away and which keeps them in filling order in outdoor shows. For the colors I use one drop of food coloring in the orange, yellow, and green glasses. One drop or red and one of blue makes wine of grape juice color for the black bottle. For the center glass, I use the white bottle with 10 drops of "Magic Milk". This works great, BUT if you prepare your glasses in advance, like the night before, using a half-balloon as a tight cover on each glass the night before, be aware that the Magic Milk drops are the only ones that won't work fine the next day... add them right before you go onstage. The routine I use is having a kid with a Burger King crown play a fussy monarch who can never make up his mind on what he wants to drink. The magi does glass after glass getting negative replies until he gets to the last one,the "grape juice" and large bottle, and gets no response. The king is asleep. Exit with all glasses attached to the board to good applause. Great opener. |

What do you use for a 'bladder' in the white bottle?

Doesn't need a bladder. Just plain water in the white aluminium bottle. The dye in eacg glass does the work. The magic milk drops go in the glass, not the bottle. Sorry if that was unclear.
