Where did you buy the Engblom's device? The only place I found online says it's out of stock...

When I first heard about the bold move in Blizzard my first reaction was "That will NEVER pass in performance. There's no way." Needless to say, I've done this countless times and never once have been caught. It's just invisible even though it's in full view.

After watching my grandson fry specs about a dozen times (he has those innocent eyes and young one's lack of fear) I finally put it out for performances. It is beyond belief, and I have never been caught! To repeat something said early in this thread, the training in the sleight you get with this is very solid- I use it in a number of effects now. Thanks, Dean!

I have this and have never tried it, too bold for me but that cooler is very cool, very clean, might make me get it although it is quite expensive.

I know it seems terribly bold but the routining is structured such that it DOES work. If you are scared of the move described in the instructions, there are alternatives with less "distance." PM me for a suggestion. |

Blizzard or Twisted Blizzard....which would you buy if you could only chose one?

I just got my Blizzard this past weekend.
Tried it on my wife and my brother at the same time. My brother is the kind of guy that will try to catch everything you're doing and figure out the trick (although he would never spoil your performance if he sees something). His eyes are usually all over you when you're performing something. Additionally, my wife was the one shuffling the 4 cards, so my brother was free to look anywhere. Guess what? I couldn't believe that the move passed by 100% unnoticed. Clean perfect. I felt my heart beat on my neck as I did it and that was awesome! I LOVE IT! This is the kind of trick that gives you that cool adrenaline to make it happen. Great! Thanks Dean!!! |

There is 2 switches taught in the Blizzard notes. I really like the second one.

Update: I still love Dean Dill's method and will continue to use it, but, I did buy The Cooler and in two words: it rocks! So to you guys STILL afraid of Blizzard's method, The Cooler is the ticket.
As to what's included with Blizzard, Chazpro magic sells one made of aluminum and should be available ay any fine brick and mortar shop. I got mine when I worked at The Cuckoos' Nest in Pittsburgh. The Chazpro tool comes prepared to look like a Bicycle case -mine is blue. But, like The Cooler, you can change the design to anything you want. Sean, it's been awhile since I looked at the Blizzard manuscript since I do the first switch he teaches. I'll have to dig it out (when my books are unpacked) and have a look at the second method again. I simply do not remember it |

That said, I don't think Twisted Blizzard is bad at all, but ... Strong points of Blizzard: 1. The spectator simply names a card. No fussing about with values. That simply makes no sense to me at least in the context of this routine. [N.B. I do Silent Running also and I don't want to repeat with a similar selection procedure.] 2. No need to place the named card in a fan; it remains in full view along with the three other blanks 3. At the end, in Blizzard, you not only can spread the deck, you can deal every card singly and all are truly blank. If I am right about Twisted Blizzard and I think I am, you simply cannot do that and the deck is NOT examinable at the end. I anticipate already counter arguments that it's not necessary to have everything examinable. In certain instances I would heartily agree. But, with an effect as strong as Blizzard, I would argue that it needs to be. The denouement is so unbelieveably strong that it screams "examine me!" I did a comparison last year on The Café among Blizzard,Tony Miller's Colossal Blizzard, and Paul Richards' White Bikes. If you can find that comparison - which is LONG - you will see my list of strengths and weaknesses for each effect. I WILL add that I used to do White Bikes; it was released before Blizzard and Colossal Blizzard. I thought White Bikes was amazing and it slayed people. But I always felt that its weakness was that it couldn't be examined and IMHO to follow this type of effect with anything else using cards is simply introducing an anti-climax to the set. If Craig Petty had been a tad more subtle in his handling of Twisted Blizzard it still would not have made a difference because "specially printed deck" [which is stated in the official promo on YouTube] for this type of effect when the strongest version overall does not require a specially printed deck means that the method is not for me. As always, YMMV. Namaste, Vlad |

Dean totally nailed me with the 2nd switch in the notes at an LVMI convention years ago. I like it better than the first switch. It just takes balls! Magical ones that is.

Well, I've always done the first switch taught. I'll have to dig it out as I haven't looked at the instructions since he first released it.
Thanks Sean! |

Blizzard is such a brilliant trick!
It truly is a mind boggling effect. Why didn't I think of this... After seeing Blizzard, I checked out Dean Dill's effects, and they are all amazing. (Box, Triangle, etc.) |

I'm going to share my mentalism routine using Blizzard with you guys, all I ask is that you do not record it on video and post it online.
"Earlier today before I came here tonight I spent some time relaxing and thinking about this group of people and connected with someone in this group. Some of you I don't know but that's ok! I want to show you guys something that I think you'll enjoy. Miss what is your name? Great, can you come up here please. We are going to use a deck of cards for this. Can you please name a card? Blank of Blank, great, let see, ok here it is. I'm also going to pull four other cards just to make this more interesting. Ok perfect, can you mix those up please and place them on the table face down. Ok, now let me focus, try to re connect with you and feel the energy from the cards. tick tock tick tock.. think... I believe this one is your card. Please turn it over. It is your card! Ok, you know how I said I connected earlier today with someone in this group? We'll that person was you. I saw the card you would pick looking into your future. As a matter of fact, your card, that you picked, (turn and spread rest of deck) is the only real card I put in this deck. |

I got Blizzard from Dean's shop earlier this year to support Dean. After running it a few times, I can agree with the others that say, yes gutsy move, but well motivated and flies by novice and pro alike. I also agree that it is, at best a stand alone card effect. The effect is way too strong to use as an opener for most other card effects and the issue with using it as a closer just screams switch, and the audience is left wondering where you switched the deck and not how you predicted the choice, which is where they should be thinking. I now plan for it as a closer for an otherwise coin and money routine, claiming that I only do one card trick. I then use that claim to book-end, finishing with the statement, "as I said, I only do one card trick and that is the one card."
