I just picked up a deck of Bicycle Prestige plastic poker size playing cards. I realize there are a number of brands of plastic cards on the market, but I would like to give my initial impression of these cards.
The description card inside the case offers the following: “Many professionals prefer the flexibility and durability of plastic cards. Biclcyle Prestige offers unmatched durability and is the only 100% plastic card to offer a paper-like feel. Perfect for a neighborhood game or a professional tournament.” It appears to be a nice card although I prefer bridge size cards when dealing with plastic decks. It lies perfectly flat without any warping whatsoever and butt shuffles and table faro riffles nicely. It is sold as a one deck purchase as opposed to double deck box purchases for Kem and some other brands. I don’t know how durable it is or if it warps or otherwise deteriorates over time. Time and usage will determine that. I paid a little less than $9.00 US for the deck and it might be of interest to some members to try and give their opinion. As an added bonus, the box mentions that the cards are “crease resistant.” Of course, plastics handle differently than paper cards and I would assume that most on this site use paper for their demonstrations and manipulations. However, many private card games and just about all professional games use plastic cards nowadays so the well rounded hustler will learn to work with plastics also. Additionally, the box that holds the cards is very durable. |

I purchased a few decks of these many months ago and used one deck just to basically mistreat and see how it stands up. My overall opinion is that these are really quite wonderful decks for the price and compare very well to the Kems I have.
They handle well, feel great but stick a little bit. The cards don't slide across each other as well as the regular paper bikes do. That may be troublesome for certain operations, at least I find it a bit of a problem, but then again I'm a hack. |

I used them in a weekly poker game and the faces (pips, courts, numbers, etc) fade faster than with Copags. Too bad because they have a good feel.
The cards lasted a month and a half (6 or 8 games). Slim |

Cagliostro,
I use plastic Copag and Fournier for years, they are excellent. Modiano has also a brand almost indestructible, lol. The main problem is that every deck has its own feeling and they are difficult to compare. A standard Copag pack last 12-15 games, easily. I haven't noticed a particular wear-out. I mean it's more a fade than something else. |

If you use these cards for practice of gambling sleights and not used in a game, these will last a looong time.... I've been messing with mine for at least 6 months and its still fine and the paint has held up....

I personally like Copag Master back design and Copag cards fell better.
But, when push comes to shove, I like paper cards best.....and most people are sued to seeing Bee, Bicycle, Aviator and Hoyle back designs.

There is a hotel/casino in the Vegas area that used to keep their plastic cards in use well past their normal lifetime. The card room manager was evidently trying to make points with the higher ups by saving money on the cards.
Unfortunately, the automatic shuffle machines were wearing out the cards in such a way it looked like there was flash work on the cards. You could see it from 30 feet away. There was no pattern to the markings, but someone I know complained to the manager. She said that although the markings were on the cards, there was no discernible pattern and therefore the cards could be left on the games. My friend then said, “I’ll bet if the cards looked like this on the Blackjack games where the house’s money was at risk, they would change them right away.” (This particular establishment changes the paper cards on the single and double deck BJ games every 2 hours.) The manager then offered to change the set-up any time my friend requested a change, but the worn cards remained in general use in the card room. My friend then complained to NV gaming and the problem no longer exists. I don’t know if gaming made a decision on this or if management figured out it was wiser to correct the problem. |

Bicycle bought KEM not long ago and so Bicycle Prestige Playing Cards are KEMs with
a Bicycle back design I guess.

The faces of the cards faded a lot and you cans see tiny spots beginning to show(fade)at the backs. Not so you can say they are marked (especially with the white border)but I guess if I continued to use them they would. Not at all impressed with the resistance of the bicycle. The Copags are better. Too bad because I enjoyed the way the bicycle felt while manipulating them( enven if I can't still second deal effectively with plastic cards) While playing poker, I am back with Copags. Altough I just bought Modianos and looking forward to using them. Any comments on Modianos ? Slim |

So far it seems like the feel of the Bicycles is desirable but they wear out faster than Copags. Copags are a very nice plastic cards and I like their feel a little better than Kems.
Learning to manipulate plastics is a whole new challenge for most card table aficionados and a necessity for hustlers who play in games that use plastics exclusively. Using a move that has already been mastered with plastics that has already been mastered with paper cards is sometimes almost like learning a new move. It seems like the trend may be to try to duplicate as closely as possible the feel of paper cards. New plastic decks seem to be coming out periodically and it will be interesting how closely they will approximate that feel, if indeed that is the objective. It seems like it is a toss-up between durability and feel. Time will tell how successfully progress will be in this regard. I have not seen the new Angle poker cards yet as mentioned by tommy above, but as I said I would expect to see more and more plastics coming on to the market in the next few years. Most people who play cards are not manipulators so the feel of paper cards for card table mastery will not be a consideration for them. I think durability would be the primary consideration for both casino poker and private card game play, and that consideration will become more and more important as time goes on. |

They use Angels in China casino's and that side of the planet mainly. They do sell the Angels in Las Vegas now from their new office there. I find that it does not matter what you like but what matters is what they use in the your local casino, its trust that matters. The players like what they know and what they know here is KEMs. They come from the casino to the private games and want it casino like, like it is in their casino. They don't want to see strange things no matter how much they like the look they don't trust them. When in Rome do as the Romans as they say.
Here is a little thing about the Angel cards http://www.pokernews.com/news/2009/03/em......1304.htm

However, it seems like once a casino or public card room introduces a new card, it quickly becomes accepted by the players. In private games, as tommy implied, players have to feel comfortable with the cards used. |

BTW if you are interested in the Prestige cards Walgreens sells them and they have a buy one get one free promotion going on (at least the last time I was in there). Good way to pick up two decks as I did.
