This is an incredible line up.

Any one of these performers alone would be worth the price of admission.

Having performed in shows over the years with six of these nine performers, I can tell you that this promises to be a very entertaining show.

Go if you can!

As promised...here is a detailed report of the night's entertainment:

IBM Ring#6 held their annual fund raiser at the Downingtown West High School in Downingtown, PA on March 10th. The venue was selected in part because it has special meaning and memories for our President, Hunter Gaul who taught at Downingtown West for many years. It was also available to the Delaware Valley Conjurers for an incredibly reasonable fee!

Downingtown West High boasts a large and modern theater. It is a very comfortable and well appointed auditorium, although at times, it seemed that the stage was too far removed from the crowd. In any case, this audience member felt like he wanted to be closer to most of the action. Fortunately, each and every performance filled the room with magic.

Fred Siegel was our intrepid Master of Ceremonies for the evening and kept the audience both amused and enthralled between acts. Fred brought polish and a very professional atmosphere to the show by engaging the audience with humor and some classic magic. He performed cut and restored ropes and The Rings to very good effect and kept the night proceeding smoothly at a very good pace.

Ed Schmitt opened the show with his renowned children’s entertainment and magic. The highlight of Ed’s act for me was his unique and very amusing Snake Basket routine.

Next up was Randy Shine who wow’ed with his smart brand of magic with audience participation. Randy performed two very unique effects. One was a very clever routine where a boy from the audience was completely fooled on stage with some classic sponge ball production magic while the audience was in on the trick, only to be fooled themselves in the end. The second was a great transformation effect where an audience member provided a ten dollar bill, he fairly marked and personalized it with a permanent marker, and it was transformed into a one dollar bill, only to be produced later from a sealed bag of chocolate chip cookies. Very nice and very funny.

Jeff Carson followed with his comedy magic routine. Jeff’s forte is weaving a good story and engaging patter so naturally into his act that it also makes classic effects his and his alone. Jeff performed the dyed silks and a large format card trick that played simply beautifully on stage. He closed with a magic mirror stacking block routine that amazed.

Al Angello closed Act 1 with his magic and juggling routine. Al performed the classic: Pizza Oven. Then he closed with a comedy bowling ball juggling routine that had the audience in stitches.

Prior to the show, IBM Ring6 members warmed up the crowd with close up magic in the lobby area with routines that were enjoyed by all.

Francis Menotti opened Act 2 with his witty and off-beat routine. I just love to see Francis perform his famous “Scrambled Cards” opener. Frances closed with his unique interpretation of the Razor Blades on a String which involves an “X-Ray Fluoroscope” to reveal to the audience just how those blades actually get attached to that string. Too clever.

Next up was J. Hunter Gaul, our IBM Ring6 President. The theme to Hunter’s routine was his study of the ancient art of levitation. First Hunter demonstrated his very own levitating golden egg effect wherein an ostrich sized egg is floated before the audience. The experiment progressed from there to floating a volunteer who, once entranced, was laid upon a magical table of Hunter’s own design and levitated before our eyes. Very impressive illusions!

Sam Sandler followed with a fast paced show including dove productions, silks, and a magic change bag routine involving a young girl volunteer from the audience that was utterly hilarious and engaging. Sam then changed it up himself and closed his routine with a poignant and touching version of the Snowstorm illusion.

Peter Pitchford provided the climatic finale for the evening with a performance of his award winning routine that pays homage to the Master Magician, Cardini. True to the Master, Peter’s routine is something special that transcends mere displays of magic and is brilliantly theatrical. Peter was ‘on’ and his performance was clean and tight. His card and billiard manipulations are simply a joy to watch.

The night was truly incredible and inspiring…a really enjoyable time and a great show. Bravo Ring6!
Regards,
