Hi all - dose anyone recognize this - my friend has it. He has been a magician for 30 plus years - got it long ago, never used it and has no information on it.

Looks like you could put together a sidewalk shuffle type of routine with those.

Reminds me of Mike Close's "Close's Clones" except totally different.

I suggest putting it in "the workers" forum. They deal with cards.

Really, Mike?
I found a description for it: http://www.clarksonstudio.com/clncrd.htm Sounds pretty tame actually. that was the first obvious thing I thought you could do with them. I'm sure you could create a more interesting routine than that. |

I had this at one time however, it did not have instructions so do not even know what it is called.

I found a description for it: George - you win the prize (if there was one, that is). No one else knew them, I searched and could not find them. Bloody brilliant, mate. Thanks - from your buddy across the pond in eh New World. |

I love the design of these - although at first glance it looks like the artist has simply drawn half a rabbit and half a clown, in fact the images overlap. That allows them to be spread quite wide, the upper right hand corner of both designs matching the lower left hand corner of the other. I think it's clever, and for sure it would play well as an opener. Of course, some suitable business may be required.
There would be no problem coming up with an appropriate story for the presentation. I think it would be a winner for 2-4 year-olds. And this could be used to introduce the rabbit theme into a show. Later on, a call-back to the rabbits is made, and a (real or puppet) rabbit is produced. If you could get your hands on an ungimmicked matching set, it would aslo play very well as a “Do as I Do” routine for older kids up to about 7. You and a kid helper both hold several pictures of a rabbit, one of a clown. You could keep showing more clowns, (or rabbits), whilst your assistant can’t keep up. Eventually, you “accidentally” display one of the gimmicked cards, and the game is up! The kids have caught you cheating! At some stage, using an audacious s****h, (it occurs to me that the magic tray method might be appropriate), you fix it for the kid helper to end up with cards that all have completely different images.......proving that he is, in fact, the best magician |

That was pretty close to my first guess.
As mentioned I think this could have some pretty good stories to go with it.

Again - you all are brilliant - now, what books or where do I begin to start putting together those kinds of stories that certainly make the illusion! I have my grandson turning seven in April - and yes - I am "doing the magic show"
Thanks all. |

For a 7-year-old, I think you should go with my "Do As I Do" suggestion. Depends if you have time to ask the supplier if they can provide an ungimmicked set, or perhaps make up some cards of your own? That might be quite an ask, unless you're an artist, or know someone who is.
Or you could decide to use your own much simpler design. 7-year-olds would love the "Do As I Do" concept, because they would catch you out......and the s****h I suggested is super-easy, so all you'd have to concentate on is first, thinking of what your "simple design" might be, and second, creating the actual props in time for your show. I think that should be feasible within about 3 or 4 hours' work. Believe me, it would be worth the extra effort. If you don't fully understand what my suggestion is, feel free to PM me, I don't want to post the minutiae on an open forum. Doug |

Well - my magician friend was not too impressed with his clowns and rabbit cards when I showed him what I had learned.
So, he told me to take them home with me. I sent a couple of you a PM - any help with patter, routines and the such that I can do with something this simple for a B'Day party for my "turning seven" grandson, would be most appreciated. Shalom all |

I sent you a PM, Cap'n. Now, as we're both pirates, how about we try to come up with a nice pirate-themed version of this?

Great concept - two kid helpers, one a girl (princess), one a boy (pirate). At the denouement, the boy holds seven pirate caaaaards, the girl holds seven princess caaaaards. Aye aye, Cap'n!
Just gotta design that gimmicked pirate/princess caaaard next....oh yes, it's already been done. How about the Queen of Hearts and the Jack of Diamonds? I think if anyone in the deck is a pirate, it surely is the Jack of Diamonds? :pirate: |
