I'm interested in doing this, but not sure how to do it. Any tips or a contact person would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The first thing you need to know is that you won't be paid.
If you're interested in working the Easter Egg roll, I can tell you right now you're too late for this year. Given that Easter is about a month away from now, there might not be enough time for them run a background check on you. Why not start off by writing them a letter AFTER Easter. Gerry |

They do an extensive background search on all guests.
They would need to be contacted by at least December. A letter and resume would need to be sent and they do check out your website and any videos. Nowadays, Facebook comments could easily be used by them. Political affiliations and knowing someone helps a lot. I believe you would need to contact the Events Coordinator.

I'm wondering if it can be all that difficult. One of the agents that I have worked for quite a bit over the years is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I know that she provided entertainment for the White House Easter Egg Roll at least twice in the past few years. Go Canada!

Does anyone have a contact person I can contact? Or an agency? I understand there is little or no pay. It's just nice to be able to say you've done it

I would think that if most people here had the contact they'd be doing it themselves and not freely offering this information just for the asking.

I agree with you MT, it would be nice to have that on my web site also.
When I was a photographer in Hollywood photographing high lever foreign dignitaries, and the California Republication Committee events, I was required to go through the rigid background checks necessary to have direct contact with the President and the Vice President. I will make contact tomorrow and see what it takes to be an entertainer for next year’s Easter Egg Hunt and share it with you. Posted: Mar 24, 2012 12:56am MT; I made contact with my past client that hired me as a photographer and he will be getting back to me in a few days. I will let you know the results. |

That's pretty cool. I wonder if it's too late this year to do it.

Of course it is. They book this well in advance, and time must be allowed for clearance and compliance as for any and all White House events.

Gotta say I the roll 5 times in row and it was great and for those that say they will not do it for FREE IMO their crazy. By me listing that have I done the white house 5 times it has gotten me tons of work. It is a very impressive to when people know that you have done that event. I got booked by my friend who had a great contact. I will say it is a PR company who runs the event and it the First lady event. Everytime a the office changes the PR company changes. When I worked it they had a specific MAGIC stage for us, they now do not have that stage anymore and now the few magicians that do it only stroll around doing magic. We really had the best time, in fact one of the years Mac King came in and worked the event, oh and it did it for FREE. Mac now uses in his intro in LasVegas.
But I would start shortly after this years Easter roll and planting seeds to get in there for next year. Keeping in mind that it may be a new PR company. Thanks Ken |

I agree with Ken, although I haven't done this specific event, I have worked with the White House and the First Lady and her team on a program. I will say like Ken, the amount of attention, talk, credibility, residual benefits and the ideal reference it provides is well worth everything.

The one with Mac King was a good year - it was actually sunny!
I totally agree with Ken. You'd be crazy to turn down the White House. |

You don't call the White House, the White House calls you, so if you haven't already been contacted they aren't interested in hiring you. All the people I know that have done it are either from the DC area, have an international reputation like Mac King, or like Ken they have an agent that lives in the DC area. The best way to get booked at the White House is to have a long term performance history in the Washington DC area.
Ken Northridge The people both you and I know who have worked at the White House have worked there for both democratic, and republican administrations. So you can be a tea party member, and still get booked for an Obama event. The bottom line here guys is if you want to get booked at the White House move to Washington.
