Clowns, your attendance seems to have lowered the past few years. Please state your presence by posting your clown name.

Though I don't use the make up anymore, I have a clown heart.

Been known of the years as:

The Mime over Matter
These days it is either Dr. Laff, Isaac or The Doctor, or the Doctor of Laughology or D.O.L. (make sure it is D.O. not B.O.

My clown name is, "Rego The Magic Clown". Although he doesn't show up at many gigs these days, I owe a lot to him! It was he that got me started in the professional entertainment field, and taught me how to handle an audience, etc. I learned so much from him, and may have never gotten started without his help.

I've been wondering for a LONG time, Regan, what type of entertainment DO you do? Some of your posts makes it sound like it's kidshow stuff, others not. The photo in your avatar, the make-up almost looks like Beetlejuice.

Enlighten me!

HOKEY --my clowning was rather "hokey".
I got the idea for the name from old pro, MAGICIAN, Dave Coleman. Dave did a comedy pitch act as "Doc Hokum" Doc took the 'big jump' many years ago. He is buried in Effingham Illinois.

I haven't had a face on in years. I was doing the advance for Franzen Bros. Circus in the '70s. Sarah Chapman did a single trap and her husband (can't recall his name) clowned. They left in mid season.

I had a young friend who was interested in magic and had just graduated from high school. I loaned him wardrobe, props, and makeup, and he joined on for he summer.

Franzen was a little mud show. Wayne had no body to sell the "garbage" (souvenirs, balloons, etc.)and this "inside" money is critical to move the show. So I "produced" the clown bits. (It was a very small "alley"!)

Every gag that "Chester" did was a pitch for the slum store. He would come on with a bunch of balloon sticks with scraps of broken balloons tied on. He yelled: "Balloons! REMNANT SALE--10 CENTS! The ringmaster would interrupt him: "We have a show going on! You can't interrupt like this! --especially with those old scraps. Chester would look sad, and start to walk off. The RM would say: "Besides we have a man that sells beautiful big souvenir balloons!" RM pointed to the souvenir stand. Chester would bring out one balloon and offer to blow it up. RM said: "Well, OK,but hurry!" Chester did the BIGGER AND BIGGER GAG, and get off. Every gag he did was a "soft sell" for the garbage, He did the monkey bar magic trick to sell the furry monkeys on a stick. He did the tray balance of lemonade glasses and it helped sell the soft drinks, etc.

Chester more than earned his salary! He helped move a lot of "circus souvenirs"!
