Taking a less maudlin/manipulative tact to that presentation:
Sometimes people respond strangely to tricks. You guys have been great, thanks. Just yesterday after doing this very trick for a woman... she tore it up and ran away. I kept the card though. It's hardly going to impress her now - but here's the finale the way I would have performed it. Maybe if you ask around you can give it back to her if you meet her? At the end of the routine before moving on: Would one of you like to let in on a trick? Okay if you would, take of one these cards - write something on it - and fold it in four. Now tear it in four. Let's put the pieces here. Now you know - but please don't tell anyone okay?

I think this trick has lots of possibilities. LOTS!! It can go so many ways. I'm looking forward to spending some time, like that period when you are just falling asleep, to let my head wander in a different direction. This can be played with as comedy, tragedy, a mental excercise, a prediction, time travel, etc.

OK, as far as the animation, it works like a charm. You dump the pieces and those pieces start to move and assemble, just like in the demo.
As far as performing it, this will take some work ( THANK HEAVENS ) to get it smooth. I would suggest working with a fellow magician ( or video tape yourself ) to get it where it should be. If they demoed this in a magic shop, you'd but it. |

Combine this with A haunted deck routine. And use A torn photo to be restored. First you perform the haunted deck trick. Now you show the letter which reads how you received the deck by an old man who thought he was gifted with strange powers. At first you laughed and tore the photo up but then. Now you dump the photo on the haunted deck. After the photo is restored you hand it them and tell them to keep it but whatever they do never tear this photo again. Ha ha ha. Dr. Phil

I field tested this over the last couple of days and have had great success. I perform for kids at a residential treatment facility, and out five or six performances have only gotten called out once (pretty good for this clientele). It was regarding the s****h at the end, and was entirely my fault. This effect does require some practice, and I think I needed to practice it a little more before I showed it. Anyway, it gets great reactions; wide eyes, chuckles and smiles etc. I am very happy with this purchase. Thanks to all concerned!

This is a very easy effect to learn. But, the switch needs to be fluid. That part will take some practice. Make it smooth and you will have a powerful piece of magic to perform.

Just got this today and having major problems getting it to animate properly and the loading move is very hard to get right.

The action loosens up after using it a lot, and yes, the loading move is hard. Misdirection is key, I found. The loading move is hard, but people are not really burning you at this point. I find the s****h at the end to be where the spectator is really burning you. I've been working on a slight time delay where I drop the envelope on the restored card, then jabber a bit about how remarkable what just happened was, then I flip the card over. Seems to take the heat off the s****h. Good luck. I really like this.

I found the load hard at first ,but I've now got it down ok and with a little miss direction before you tip out the pieces any minor flashes are not seen.
Try and stick with it I've been playing with it for just under a week now, I've still got a few more creases to iron out but I'm nearly there |

This is like the Haunted folding dollar bill but with a clean up. I have got the moves down and am using this but of the recent Feinberg releases I like YAYA better. Still I feel it can be great in the right hands and in the right place. Very well made and priced right. I give it 8.5. out of 10. YaYa 9.5 . I love Feinberg's way of thinking and he has a real way with spectators especially close up. I have bought from Jesse direct before unlike a lot of creators he will respond to your concerns and will get your stuff right out to you. He is especially nice to the ladies. Jesse call me.

We had a troll-like intervention from someone else (ok I know he recanted a little!) that sparked double the amount of comment and feedback... yet a beautiful and creative post like this one gets half the comment.. I'm writing in praise of magicsquared's contribution even though I might add that I personally couldn't use his presentational idea because I'm too old to credibly talk about breaking up with a girlfriend, but the creativity in this post is truely inspiring and admirable and of course some of the younger guys could use it in its entirity. What's more on a much more mundane level the presentation shows how that if you weave in a story into a routine, it will magnify your moments and opportunities to do the 'dirty work' becasue misdirection is greatly aided by this type of presentation (though it must be constructed in a way that adds value and meaning to the trick itself of course). Thanks for sharing this creativity magicsquared; what was nice was the further twists and turns as the story/presentation unfolded... for example the idea of having your phone ring, was a great additional and unexpected touch. As I say I can't use this presentation, I don't have a girlfriend... Btw, that's because I'm a sad and lonely guy who watches, reads, and performs magic all the time. Plus my wife would kill me.

Many posters were interested in how the trick worked, many posters werer interested in how easy/deceptive/examinable/foolproof/etc it was. And few, if any, were interested in a presentation. And yet it's the presentation of an effect that makes it worth performing. So when his post appeared, people became more enthusiastic about the effect. (Though to be fair, many were already very enthusiastic about this effect.) But at the time, I refrained from posting that, since I'm fed up with getting abusive responses. Dave

Hi mrsmiles
Since you said you're to old to say your girl left you how about saying your dog left you instead. ;0) Plus the fact that your dog called you on the phone would add more amazement to the trick. hth Ralph
