Tommy, the US is dedicated to stopping the end of the world when the Mayan calendar end December of this year. If you see Jan of 2013 you know who is to thank, that is right, the New Age Wavy Gravy we call Obama. If the world ends it is because Bush failed to establish ANY programs to train Shamans or West African Zoes. Look it up.
By the way California voted, upheld by the 9th Circuit court, that stopping the destruction of the world shows insensativity to the Mayan culture. Due to this California will blow themselves up on 12/12/12 if enviromental impact studies show that they can do so without damaging the enviroment or contribute to global warming. Oddly the state is paying a billion dollars for the study and plans on suing themselves either way and more odd the court case is scheduled for July of 2018. |

So Bob still thinks before this century is over billions of us will die and the few breeding pairs of people that survive will be in the Arctic where the climate remains tolerable . When are you planing on moving to the Arctic Bob?

The Mayan Long Count does not "end" this year, it just goes from the end of one Baktun to the next, just as our calendar goes from one century to the next. After all, the Mayan world "ended" a long, long time ago.

To me anthropogenic global warming alarmism always appeared a baseless fabric, and I could not think of engaging in an occupation which would consume much time, cost me a good deal of money, and might perhaps excite in me some of that fanaticism, or, at least, enthusiasm that I saw in others, and perceived to be void of any rational support. So I remained in my English Lodge as I watched some people of the primitive global-warming cult flee to the Artic to escape the intorable heat they believed was coming. In 2012 most of the cult woke up as I had predicted and started saying things like. “The problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some alarmist books – mine included – because it looked clear-cut, but it hasn’t happened,” “The climate is doing its usual tricks. There’s nothing much really happening yet. We were supposed to be halfway toward a frying world now,” “The world has not warmed up very much since the millennium. Twelve years is a reasonable time… it (the temperature) has stayed almost constant, whereas it should have been rising -- carbon dioxide is rising, no question about that,” Some people pointed to Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and Tim Flannery’s “The Weather Makers” as other examples of “alarmist” forecasts of the future. As reported on the world news; http://worldnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/201.......twitter
Maybe one could call it the end of their Gaia world. So where will the US taxpayers etc go now to get back the billions and trillions of their tax dollars stolen for the imaginary man made 'global warming” false alarm? Will the pear shaped creature's give the taxpayers their money or not? What do we want? Our Money! When do we want it? Now!

The various climates in the world go through a variety of changes over time. (I don't think that there is a meaningful "world climate.") Since the early XIXth century, we have been blessed by a relatively warm period. I hope it continues! I wouldn't want to see a mile thick layer of ice over most of the Northern Hemisphere again! The idea that the infinitesimal increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide that can be attributed to human industry are or will be responsible for catastrophic climate warming has been disproven by the simple fact that although atmospheric carbon dioxide has continued to increase, there is no evidence of global temperature warming for the past decade or so.

Again, for those who were sleeping in the back of the classroom:
Quote:
Several subsequent studies confirm that “...the debate on the authenticity of global warming and the role played by human activity is largely nonexistent among those who understand the nuances and scientific basis of long-term climate processes”. (Doran 2009). In other words, more than 95% of scientists working in the disciplines contributing to studies of our climate, accept that climate change is almost certainly being caused by human activities. http://www.skepticalscience.com/global-w......nsus.htm |

Actually, Bob, if you want to understand the motivations that guide those who claim that we must make massive changes in industrial civilization to fend off global warming, I recommend Naomi Klein's article in "The Nation."
Quote:
Responding to climate change requires that we break every rule in the free-market playbook and that we do so with great urgency. We will need to rebuild the public sphere, reverse privatizations, relocalize large parts of economies, scale back overconsumption, bring back long-term planning, heavily regulate and tax corporations, maybe even nationalize some of them, cut military spending and recognize our debts to the global South. Of course, none of this has a hope in hell of happening unless it is accompanied by a massive, broad-based effort to radically reduce the influence that corporations have over the political process. That means, at a minimum, publicly funded elections and stripping corporations of their status as “people” under the law. In short, climate change supercharges the pre-existing case for virtually every progressive demand on the books, binding them into a coherent agenda based on a clear scientific imperative. Because the "old left's" economic materialism failed and the "New left's" Gramscian social-cultural revolution failed, the statists who wish to gain complete control over every moment and every facet of every individual life have become the "green left." |

As you may have guessed, I completely agree with The Nation article you quoted.
I still find it amusing that the same people and states who demand that creationism be taught in science classes also claim that global warming is junk science. (Just as years ago they - the Heritage Foundation for example - claimed that the tobacco/lung cancer link was junk science.) I believe that those who choose to ignore the scientific findings are encouraged by those who have a vested economic interest in fighting any governmental regulations designed to protect the environment - i.e. the same ones who seem to think that the Gulf oil spill was no big deal. |

I'm assuming that critter has nothing constructive to contribute to the conversation. Some of us, on both sides of the issues (Woland, myself, Lobo, Danny, etc.) actually think out our positions and I find the insinuation that we are being robotic to be mildly insulting.

I think you missed the post where I was talking about the recycling robot. I am not implying anything about you. I just wanted to know why there aren't cool robots everywhere anymore like there were "back in the day."
I've never made any posts intended to insult you, Bob. I'm too much of a fan and have watched all of your YouTube videos and even read your Wikipedia page. I only asked where all the robots went. And really, Johnny 5 wasn't a typical robot.

"Gore has been involved with the environment for a number of decades. In 1976, after joining the United States House of Representatives, Gore held the "first congressional hearings on the climate change, and co-sponsor[ed] hearings on toxic waste and global warming."["
I'm just curious what 'specific' things have happened that were predicted by the 99.9643% of scientists that believe in Man Made Global Warming since Al Gore started ringing the bell some 35 years ago? Are sea levels rising steadily? Is Artic and/or Antartic Ice continuing to disappear? Have hurricanes continued to increase is size, quantity, and violence? Has all the snow from the Himalayas disappeared? Have school children in England never seen snow? Has the temperature continued to increase in direct proportion to increased in carbon dioxide? At what point do we look at everything that has been predicted and say, hmmmm, maybe they were wrong? If none of these dire predictions have occured by the year 2025, 2050, 2100, will you still claim that those who don't believe it are all flat-earthers? |
