In real life I know different people who are Hypnotist, Escape Artist, Mentalist, and Street Buskers. I make friends with all of the kind. But I see a difference in personality with those occupations on the Café.
Which of the above do you think is the winner in the following fields: 1) Most self-centered. 2) Less likely to give help and support to a newbie. 3) Has the highest ego. 4) Eager to criticize other members. |

I don't think it is a matter of "personality" at all -- since who they are in real life (church, school, saloon) may each have a different false personna. The chosen personna for an Internet posting may have no relationship to "person" at all -- just another fiction. Your four categories of behaviors are valuable for each person to reflect on as to how they come across to other magicians and audiences.
Another thought is, "Do magicians have a 'real life'?" In Real Life "Character Development" implies ethical choices and conguent behavior in interpersonal relations. For magicians it implies choice of clown costume or acting role. So, the answer to your question is "all of the above" when compared to a normal person.

No Mike. I don't take much notice of what people seem like on the internet. I find it quite funny most times.

I just wasn't sure at first Tommy. Because it sounded like it was written by someone living on "Devil's Island".

I feel...compelled...to say...the best of the bunch...are...the Hypnotists.
Least likely to criticize other members: Escape Artists. Most likely to already know what I was going to type: Mentalists. Most likely to help those starting out in their trade: Street Buskers. And the winner of best magic topic starter is..............Dynamike!
