I have a Morgan [ from Johnson, and it has started to turn a strange color... Kind of tarnished but in a different shade than I am used to with other gaffs.
Any ideas on cleaning it? Read somewhere about boiling in salt water... ?? Thanks for any suggestions. If need be I can post photo. RevJohn |

A friend of mine took different things to clean up tarnish metal. I've been surprise with cigarette ashes, he use ketchup too. Me, I prefer this:
http://www.leevalley.com look for: Veritas® Honing Compound One bar will last 200-250 years. I polish ALL my silver coins with it! Rub it on cotton then rub your coins... Results are wonderful! |

So the tarnishing of the [ is normal then? It tarishes in a different way than my morgans.

than your other coins?has it been up aganist something that has been chemical treated.i have had some leather pouchs turn some of my coins a orangish color. |

They are all in the same enviroment. A Onosaka Coin purse.
The Morgans are not tarnishing, but the [ is at different rate and color. Are the Johnson Morgan ['s made out of the a Morgan? Or a different material? I thought they were machined Morgans. Perhaps it is just the way it works, and I need to polish them all to be shiny... RevJohn |

My WL changed too. Told it was an OLD Lassen. Bar Keeps Friend took the tarnish right off; a little TOO shiny right now---I was desparate. BTW, the label says do NOT use on silver. Told you I was desparate.

Use an eraser. It's wonderful and you don't change the finishing.

The good erasers are not strong plastic eraser but those in smooth material generally white. Other solution test with red/blue eraser with red part.
I hope you can understand that I have in my mind...

Believe it or not,
Tooth paste without water works real well and is not as abrasive as some other products. and you don't have to spend any additional money to try it out. :) Cal

Wright's Silver Cream---> http://www.amazon.com/Weiman-Products-01......er+cream
Wright's Copper Cream---> http://www.amazon.com/Wrights-Copper-Cre......sc_img_b Both excellent products. Not abrasive at all; gentle but very effective. Presently I only have the Silver Cream but I use it on copper too - even nickel plated stuff like Garrett Thomas's Banded rings. Does a great job. Flitz is also good on copper - especially cups for cups and balls. http://www.amazon.com/Flitz-BP03511-Meta......ds=flitz Nevr-Dull. Nevr Dull is kinda weird to use; it's wadding soaked with some kind of polishing cream and it also leaves a coating (supposedly protective). I don’t like it too much. http://www.amazon.com/Nevr-Dull-Magic-Wa......evr+dull Have fun! Jim |
