Hey!
Recently I was searching for good New Material for the Bar Magic Work. I Found "Overkill" in Art of Atonishment Vol.2 P.183. Is EXCELLENT in the Premise, and for the Bar is great. I try it out One time, and works , but the second and third I Miss the Card for one or two (The Force). I try it again and works, but again Fails in another try... So, this is normal on this effect?(Sometimes works, sometimes don't) There's something that I miss? The number of cards lifted need be Odd or Even? I hope the error was mine because I like the effect SO MUCH ! When it works...Its a KILLER ! Thanks, -H

I don't think it has to be Odd OR Even.Just a small stock cut under 20 the force card is at position 21 I believe, its been a while since I have done this.Great effect.

If the instructions are followed, I believe it can't fail.

I tried again and sometimes work, sometimes don't. And I'm following the instructions piece by piece.

It won't fail. You must miss out something.

I second that: it won't fail as long as the spectator cuts 20 or fewer cards as already mentioned.

It wont fail, its impossible to fail if done properly....but on that note, I don't belive its a good bar trick at all, maybe you could explain why you think such a "long" and procedural effect is good for a bar crowd?

Agree with Vinny.
Or, you can just ask yourself, "if I had a few drinks in me....". Granted, their are diffrent levels of bars (I work in bars that have a younger audience)....but most bars are going to be serving, so you really need to make sure that your effects are, simple in procedure and strong in results (nothing new there). I agree- failing is not an option if done right. PM one of us and discuss offline...

I think one of the big problems in doing this in a bar, is in order for the initial force to work, the spectator has to pay attention and follow directions, which can be difficult when slightly inebriated. You also need to be very clear in what you want them to do otherwise they're liable to ruin your trick.

I think Randy Wakeman's bar magic vids are very good. His stuff is commercial, clear and well done. Just sayin'...

Jim,
I have to fully disagree about Randy Wakeman's DVDs. His lines border on hackish, his effects are not strong enough (given the multitude of material that we can gleam now-a-days), and seldom the routines have moves for the sake of having moves...but not good ones. Bill Malone and Doc Eason, study those DVDs and then check our anything by Randy Wakemman....if you cant see the extreme differance, I don't know what to tell you. Of coarse, this is just my opinion. Also, Im not saying that he is the worst....but when there is so much good material out there, why settle on something that is below par? Billy p.s. This is going to sound very mean, but I watch his DVDs after having a bad night performing.....they always cheer me up. |
