My goodness, look what my Mom found in her new Parsley plant this morning. I was told to escort this beauty outside. Yikes. Smile

The bees had company today:

I've been trying to make the photo smaller- it's resized small on photobucket but the link doesn't seem to get updated or maybe there's a delay- I've come back here previously and seen the photos have changed size. Smile

Piercing, anyone?

Found some gracious frogs the other day- they seem to be thriving despite the drought they've encountered this summer.

Pool or lake? Street clothes or bathing suit? ( I saw that last clip).

Laurie,
Your photos are stunning.
The Butterfly from August 11 is so good; I would love to use it in an ad campaign.
Would you consider selling it?

John Lennon was a long haired, dope smoking "Peace Nik". Why would anyone listen to him. He was against the war in Vietnam. I guess he was all for Communism.
If Lennon was alive today, he would be against the war in the middle east.

If Lennon were alive today, he probably would have grown out of his political activist stage and be making some good music. And Laurie and I would be listening to it right now, probably, while looking at her spectacular butterfly pictures. So what was your point?

My point is the hypocracy I hear on a daily basis. Most of the people I work with and even my Family and Friends were all for the war in the middle east but now are against it.
It is my opinion that the reason we haven't seen much in the way of protest against the illegal war (my opinion again) is because the media has stated over and over again that anyone who protest anything these days are a bunch of bleeding heart liberal's who have nothing better to do and are not being Patriotic (the old "America, Love it or leave it" syndrome).

People who know me also know how much I Love John Lennon and how upset I was the night he was murdered (my phone rang off the hook that night).

As far as growing out of his activisim, I dought it. As far as making good music? He only made good music.
PEACE

Yeah... I've heard some of the experimental stuff he and Yoko did together and I have to say that as much as I love John Lennon, not all of it was "good."

This isn't a political thread and the thread isn't about Lennon, it's about what he said in the quote posted. Here's something else he said: "What happens is somebody comes along with a good piece of truth. Instead of the truth's being looked at, the person who brought it is looked at."
What I will say about John Lennon is he believed in personal responsibility. Sticking a political label on a guy who never voted is misrepresentative, to say the least, and for what gain, Iven?

And I wore black the next day, and all my schoolmates thought I was insane. (Maybe I was!)

Laurie is different, and started this thread for different reasons. It wasn't political. It was just Laurie. Enjoy it. Enjoy her art. She's an artist and a really cool person. This thread isn't about John, but about her.

Laurie has also taught me a few things in PMs. So I'd also say she has a bit of wisdom in her.

But, you know, to each his own. Ignore her if you want. But let this thread get back to cool photos. If Laurie has any more cool photos. Maybe her camera is broken.

Sorry, my error. Since the first six threads were about John Lennon, I thought I would throw my 2 cents worth in the mix. Wasn't aware that I could not add to the Lennon threads. Once again I really do appologize.

Yes, the photo's are very nice indeed.

I don't object to talking about Lennon so much, but turning the focus to politics and war, and using Lennon's name to do it, on a thread focused on the very opposite, threw me. Apology accepted, thanks, Iven.

Lennon was peace loving. Is that such a bad quality? The man not only was inspirational but continues to be. He was genius.

I could find things to disagree with him about, or to bash his detractors but why not concentrate on all the good he was for? Arguing is easy. Don't take the easy path.

Sort of the sentiment the man was expressing in his quote.

Laurie, good on ya for posting it and great work.

Beautiful pictures Laurie. If I didn't know better I'd think that the earlier picture of you was taken about a half a mile from where I live on Puget Sound. Even the land on the other side of the water looks the same.

Good thoughts,

Bob
