I think it was a Card-At-Number prediction taught on a DVD.
Similar, but not Shim Lim's Think. Thanks for considering.

Asi Wind.
Allan Ackerman. John Born. Ken Krenzel. Of those, only Asi's in on video (I believe). Ben

Yes, I have the DVD that came with Asi's "Chapter One" lecture notes.
That could be it. Thanks so much, Ben!

No, it is not Asi Wind's 'AACAAN' in "Chapter One" that I am trying to think of.
I appreciate Ben listing that reference and three other possibilities. The one I can not recall is similar, but easier than AACAAN. Of course it is not as versatile nor as clean. It isn't Eric Mead's either. Still driving me nuts not to fully recall. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Does this use a gaffed/modified deck?

I think Ken Krenzel is credited with the idea of secretly cutting the deck as the cards are removed from the box. He uses it in an ACAAN type routine. The case is gaffed so you can set up the cut point.

Mike,
The Krenzel item you are thinking of is "Open and Shut Case" from Close-up Impact (1990) but the cutting idea with a normal box, as Ben mentioned, is also used in an Ackerman treatment, Born's treatment, with a different box modification, and a version I performed at the Castle in 91, using a comletely different type of box. More recently, Matt Furman has been using the Ackerman concept as well for a version of ACAAN. As best I can tell, the Krenzel version predates the Asi Wind version. Wesley James |
