Hi Everyone - I was wondering if you knew the version (or versions) available of Professor's Nightmare where, after being made the same length, the three ropes are tied together and then restored into a single long rope. During the restoration, one knot is pulled off and the other is made to vanish after looping and then pulling on the rope.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Whit's Mongolian Pop Knot does it. There is a way in my book, "Give a Magician Enough Rope" where you start with one single piece and finish with one single piece. Book available at http://www.pete-biro.com

That sounds like the Ken Brooke trick he sold years ago. It was called the "Conway Rope Trick" by Pat Conway. Stevens Magic has the rights to it, so you can ask them if they will sell you the instructions. They should have them. It only came with the standard Professor Nitemare Ropes, so there is no special props needed. I have the original instructions on this in my hands right now.
You might check Jose De LaTorra book "The Magic of Havana", I think something similar was in that book as well. I am not positive and only going on memory on this one. |

Right, Pat Conway's rope... one great simple routine. Just before Ken Brooke died, I had put my handling of the Conway Rope trick together and Ken was to market it as The NEMO Rope Routine. Never did happen as he passed away before we finished it. For $15 my book has the NEMO routine and many other original items.

Whit's Routine is a thing of beauty and highly recommended....Whit's DA MAN!
Having said that, I think that Whit would agree with me on doing yourself a favor and buying and reading George Sands Ropesational Routine and Abbott's Encylopedia of Rope Tricks. Both of those are, in my opininion, must-reads for any rope magicians working library. |

I love that routine, I have the moves down but I am having trouble with the accent.

I've got all the moves but the spontaneous jokes will take a lot of practice. Why does a person need years to hone something that just casually comes off the top of his head?

Pitchmen say that the pitch isn't just memorized, it becomes part of the DNA. I think it is the same for magic. The patter needs to be honed and memorized until it becomes part of the DNA, then you suddenly are completely free again to be spontaneous and experimental.
