Harely, I agree with your snark. Today, too often, creativity=copy with minuscule changes.

Most new drugs come from universities, not drug companies. Most drug companies spend R&D money on creating "copycat" drugs that are the same as another with a molecule changed. Example: Levitra and Cialis are just slight modifications of Viagra.

If someone can create an original smartphone, other companies try to copy it. (before iPhone, everything was a copy of RIM's Blackberry. Now they all blatantly copy the iPhone).

And as pointed out in this thread, if someone comes up with a successful TV show, others will copy it (Pawn Stars, Cajun Pawn Stars—although I think CPS is actually PS v.2)
